Pictures tell a thousand words. Driving in 2nd gear, boosting about 5psi, ready to grab 3rd gear and this happens.

    That's nuts!

How much power are you making?
And how old is the shaft?

not exactly sure, i'm gonna send a nice e-mail to acpt.

apparently they don't break on 1000hp+ drag cars

it wasn't that bad. if it was ally or steel, i think i would have felt it more.

    Why don't

V8 supercar's use carbon Fibre D/S's? because not one car would finish the race. Bummer Chris:(

I thought that was one of the reasons behind the carbon fiber is that it would be destroyed if the structural integrity of the shaft is broken, hence no javelin effect

no good man , get another one , stock , single ,.

did you freak out when it happened ... ever since i put the single in , I'm all ways worry that it will go on me ,, it scare me till this day ,,

back in the day , when these things would go , with 500 600 hp cars , you knew about it ,, .. some times its bye bye car ,,

carbon is good for this reason ,, it will just break in pieces, with steal or alloy ,,, hhhhhmmmm danger danger danger,,, so we should consider this lucky , with his power or maybe this would not have happened with a metal one ..

1000hp MY ASS , the first time i look at these , i said no way , well price and all...

i'm about to get a 2-piece stock shaft from a mate and i'll leave that in until i decide what to get next. i might just buy another carbonfibre shaft from pst, like black beast said, or i might give the ally shaft a try.

very lucky it was carbonfibre and it just split into 1000 pieces. the steel shaft would have cut me in half

maybe i can still make it for tonights dyno night :D

I sent my ACPT shaft back for 2 reasons

1/ because they sent me wrong ones twice!
2/wasnt happy with the aluminium adaptor at end 4bolts -adaptor to 6bolts on diff

the PST is 6 bolts on the actual spicer joint

whether its stronger ?.. guess I'll let you know soon :D

PS ..dont use ally on your power..

I hope you never find out what the limits of the PST shafts are!

Do you have details as to where I can get a PST shaft from?

in tests I've seen whether they are true carbon fibre shafts breaks just before chromolly does..

I didn't want use ally which has a higher fatigue rate than steel.

So C/F to me was the weight of ally with the strength of chromolly..

then again it could be just one rotten apple in the bunch?

consider yourselflucky to have hard a carbon one.. if that was steel you wouldnt have much of drive shaft tunnel or your legs/arse left...
saw a steel one go on a gtr some years ago and the bloke spent a good couple months in hospital from it, and exxentially wrote off the car

CF all the way for safety...
