I was wondering if anyone was still following this post.... Well Andrew took off on holidays and only got back last week. On Sunday we spent all day masking up, re-sanding and laying the first coat of primer just so we could see if there were any bumps, dings, etc. To my surprise, it's almost perfect! Quality phone pictures ftw!
'course we're still following it mate! You're probably the one making the most progress out of everybody on these forums
Tom good to see the body getting done.... Don't think Andrew can take another holiday during this process....
so how are you going compared to the deadline? minus the hold up with Andrew having holidays, are you still on target? looking good either way - can't wait to see the finished result!! btw you got camber arms in stock yet? putting my car back on the ground tonight the camber has definitely got worse
I think overall it's been about 5 weeks.... Because of the hold up with the front bar and Andrew going away for a little while, it has pushed the dead-line back a little, but at least I know its running and we're painting it at the moment. I missed the cruise yesterday so we could continue painting. We welded up the rear wiper and antenna holes, bogged up any litte dings and dents and started high building the areas we just bogged. I'm hoping that I'll have my front bar for next weekend and we can fit that, high build the whole car and get sanding. Andrew is tempting me to do a custom 'fade' paint job.... Fading from gunmetal to titanium..... I'm thinking it might look pretty damn sexy.
yeh that could definitely be pretty cool - have you seen the show Overhaulin? They've done a few fade paint jobs on that show and they've come up pretty nice. the thought had crossed my mind to do it with black to silver but thought i'd keep it simple as the lines on the zed work well as it is - fading paint colours might detract from it. with regards to the rear wiper - is that legal? i had the brazillian done and the guy asked if i wanted the rear wiper removed, i kept it as i thought it was a legal requirement. curious as to whether it is or not. you've definitely had good progress - even if your not dead on with the timeline at least the car is closer to being finished.
I recall Pex got away with having stickers on his rear window. Copper said it impedes the operation of the rear wiper, but his comeback was the rear wiper wasn't a legal requirement and therefore not operational and could not be impeded by the stickers... or something like that.
I don't know if it helps, but take this example.. I have 3 cars: Zed Camry wagon Lancer coupe My Lancer DOES NOT have a rear wiper. It has not been modified. This car was sold as-is in all Australian states. My assumption then would be that this is not a legal requirement, regardless of state.
it might come under the same rule as air bags. its ok 2 drive a z without them. but if they were factory fitted . ei 95+ its illegal 2 remove them ...
rear wiper i have had no rear wiper for over a year and been pulled over a total of 8 times and been searched twice in that time and no mention of a rear wiper.
Ha ha, Interesting. You will never know what they were looking for. They stopped me for breath test twice so far and they were looking at the front, rear, rego etc while doing the test. Everytime I see cops my heart start pounding...
lol i know the feeling! Have cops looking all the time... Keep a tape measure in the car for the height issue... But if they check my rims, i'm gone
