Anyone know any tricks to determine whats causing a slight noise from the power steering pump on a 2003 350z. Dealership says to keep an eye on it because it may need to be replaced. The car has only done 50,000km so i find it hard to believe that it would need to be replaced already.

Checked fluid level? Any fluid leaks?

Things can just break, not just need replacing because of wear and tear.

Could be a worn out bearing from a overtightened PS pump belt. Maybe ran dry once and there is scoring on the rotors or something like that.

remove the belt and see if you can find any slight movement in the pulley, if there is movement I would say the bearing has worn out.

Big question is, i only brought the car secondhand last year from a Nissan Dealer with39k on the clock and have done 11kms in 10 months. It came with a 12 month warranty, yes i know these are not worth the paper they are printed on, but do you think this is something i can push them to fix. I am awaiting an answer from Berwick Nissan in Vic at the moment.

You might be able to get them to fix it. I hope so for your sake, I'm guessing that Z33 parts are a bit pricey and can't see there being much aftermarket stuff yet.
