You'll have to spend thousands to get any proper noticable gain. Have a search, decide it's too hard and put a TT in when you are off your P's (if applicable:p).

If he wanted a t/t he would have bought one, same price my friend ;)

he asked what he could do to improve the car,at least help him

Nothing wrong with n/a cars mate,i have 2 as well as a t/t and i wouldnt sell the n/a's for anything, they are great fun ,rev hard, very responsive, more reliable ,match the t/t's in the mountains no probs and just about bulletproof

first step is get yourself a pod filter, then do the exhaust,a nice 2.5 inch free flowing exhaust will get you in the right areas

    Hey mate

I had an NA to start with. Same old story. Spent a lot of cash, did pretty much all the bolt on mods and some more.

    Matched intake plenums
    pod
    extractors
    full rebuild, high compression motor
    extractors
    cats and back exhaust
    dyno tune

    Yeilded around 180hp atw.

    Really nothing to flash.

Now ive got a TT.. the thing has more power at half throttle than the NA ever did. Bottom line.. Do a pod and a catback if you feel the need.. but dont waste your money on results that wont happen. At the end i was chasing a $100/1hp. The TT or another motor can get much better results.

Price doesn't always come down to it ;) People don't buy NA's if they want to go fast when there is a perfectly good twin turbo version for the same money...

Stick a V8 in it! More power than a stock TT and it's awesome coz I have one hehe!

yet you spend more on a n/a v8 when it would have been cheaper to get a t/t and splash a few hundred on it and go alot faster ,alot cheaper ??????? :banned:
some people dont want a t/t some just want an n/a to zip around in
I dont see him talking about big figures, hes just wanting to make his n/a go abit quicker,if he wants to be a dyno queen,we will refer him to icer with his huge 300rwkw monster lol

i looked at a few twin turbo models but k's were way 2 high and preety pricey and that was for older models.

i chose mine 1993, N/A 2+2 with targa top cos it was the cleanest only had done 135,000 k's clean thru out pretty much as new oh yeah its auto 2. picked it up for $9,400 down from $13,000.

i know its auto but i wanted something different thats why i opted for the n/a cos i always see done up tt in manual and never any n/a autos wanted 2 stand out try do something different wasnt 2 fussed about it been auto, i just love the car always have.

its still fun 2 drive plenty of power from stock just want 2 improve it and get as much power as possible for and n/a auto. it probably sounds stupid but i just really want 2 have a quick, clean & respectable automatic n/a 300!

it would be different but dont think ill stick a v8 in her i think it defeats the purpose of buying and owning a jap car.

    thanks 4 the suggestions tho

    NITROUS BRO!!

Seriously tho when i had my zed i was pretty happy with the way it was in stock form, being an NA it wasn't as fast obviously but enjoyable. Having said that if you want a fast 300 really cant go past a TT...After spending thousands youll still end up with something MAYBE as powerful as a stock TT.

I dont buy the BS about doing something just to be different, do it if you want to do it simple as that... if i were you i would put my money into handling, you know.. suspension etc. Then if you find it viable do a TT swap later on.

fair enough. getting twin apexi pods put on next service at adelaide Z cars thinking of also getting computer re-mapped and tuned cos that apparently helps improve the performance but not sure yet also told i can get a stage 3 trans built for my car but it cost around $3- 4,000 from memory.

were you happy with your car tho 4 what its was?

apparantley the 1993 300 (mine) came stock with 167kw not sure if its 100% accurate but it goes pretty hard 4 a stock n/a auto.

ive beaten a fair few commodore v8's =)

it cant be that hard 2 believe i want 2 do something different and cos i want 2 of course. its just so common 2 see done up manual tt.

you rarely here of people talking about or see done up n/a autos thats why it would be different! =)

i want a tt later on down the track.

there is a guy who lives near me who owns a manual tt fairlady and ive beaten him in mine as is i personally dont think the stock tt are that much quicker if at all than the n/a but thats just my opinion obviously everbody thinks differently tho.

i have been thinking about coil overs but not sure apparently there pretty pricey what would you recommend?

    cheers

Hey mate I recently bought my zx it's an N/A so I think I can comment. I also askedthe same questions when I joined the forum. Got the same answers as you. Realisticly your stock na won't beat a tt unless the driver has a seriously slack right foot. And realisticly you won't be beating v8 commodores ull be even with the v6 versions little faster if your car is in good nick. But in my opinion dragging in a straight line is like comparing dick sizes all those v8s may pull away on a straight but when they understeer and body roll like a mother fu*ker you be the one laughing

Yer I forgot to mention. Two poddies are useless for your car you would get the same benefits from one. Save your money. Also just make sure your maintinace is up to date on your car. Like it or not your z is nearly 20 so it may decide to drops it's guts and give you greif. Just my experience

    If you must spend money:

    Coilovers
Adjustable camber arms front and back
    Adjustable tension rods
    Good brake pads
    Extractors and exhaust
    Pod
    Good tyres

And people don't do up Auto NA's because they are the crappest (from a going fast perspective) Z available

Having owned an NA auto ill agree that if you buy one with intentions of doing it up, your money would be much more well spent else where. IMHO an NA(man/auto) is a fantastic GT car which looks great and isnt a huge slug BUT if you buy a 300 and have intntions of making big power a TT is a much cheaper option... Being your car you can do wat you want but i just hope you've got deep pockets...
