time for me to purchase some new rotors. i have been using rda slotted rotors and am VERY happy with them. they do the job great and i havnt had a problem. my queiry is to THOSE who have the GROOVED DIMPLED ROTORS. i would like to hear from those who are using these rotors. STANDARD SIZE. and better yet if you had used the normal slotted ones before you had these ??? im confused on which i should go for. im purchasing for the fronts and the rears. total price for whole set difference the gold ones are costing me roughly $185 extra overall. pretty much just over $45each rotor extra. is it worth for me to pay that more extra and get the gold ones? or is the difference not even visible... as i mentioned i have been using the normal slotted ones and i have no complaints about them at all. i would be more than happy to get them again. but i wouldnt mind going with the golds ones if the difference is visible. lifespan? bite etc? any feedback is appreciated. thanx
You're not going to notice a tangible difference at the pedal by choosing either the slotted or slotted/dimpled rotors. Really, the only things you'll gain from getting the gold passivated dimpled rotors is some corrosion resistance and a pleasant ''whiffling" noise when going carpet-deep on the brake pedal. The passivated rotors do look pretty Gang$ta though. Makes umbrella girls throw their panties at you, etc.
ye thats what i had in mind. although i thought that with the gold ones having more slot/dimples that it would last longer, or even give my pads a laster longer life and better performance since they would have more breathing/cleaning. but then again less meat to bite... hrmmm not all that worried about the rust as i just sprey mine anyway...
the gold is only a protective coating on the rotor and will be worn off after the "bedding in" or at least thats wat the little piece of paper says that came with mine
For the average person you wont even notice the difference between blank rotors and slotted rotors let alone the difference between dimpled and slotted. Just get whatever, for the most part unless you do alot of track work it's just cosmetic.
High temp brake caliper paint Before installing the rotors clean off all the oil and grime with a thinners. Then go nuts on the disk paint the whole thing. Do about three coats let dry for a day, then install. The pads will remove any paint on the disc and then the whole rest of the rotor is nicly plainted, no rusty hubs.
Wtf? It would take 2 minutes with some masking tape and news paper. I mean there's lazy but that is just straight up backyard dodgyness! lol
Chad I don't think there is a noticeable difference in performance between the two. I think its a looks thing for the majority of people, I like the look of the curved slots and dimples. The gold wears off the rotor surface that makes pad contact but the hats and any exposed area does stay nice and not rust.
vht high temp brake paint thanx caz. does the gold wear of at all on the hats etc? how long have you had yours on? if the gold doesnt wear off on the hats and the inside then i may go for them.
All Major Manufacturers......... ........who I have spoken to, including the ones who produce both types, tell me that the slotted Rotors perform the best and are kinder on the Pads
