oh yeah antony ( who started this thread) if you just need some cheapies i have some muck about second hand 18" tyres you may have for $40 each. they aren't terribly fantastic, but you said you were short of cash.
I would highly recommend the Federal ss595's: http://www.federaltyres.com.au/car/ss595.htm Great tyre for their price (under $200 for 255/40/17).
thanks Where abouts in Melb are you? What size aree the tyres will they fit? Is there any tread left on them?
Do you have a pic of the Maxxis tread pattern? Dunlop sipes appear to have near 3x connectivity with water channels compared with the GY. then Dunlop Sport Maxx (1st)
Matching wheels Incidentally, and a little off-topic, what do you think of black rims? Anyone have them on a Z, a Red one would be nice to see pics of.: Enkei Racing JS-M Enkei Racing RP-03 Rays Master Piece R.E.M.
simon, you put 265's on the back, they were cheap. 235/40r18 maz1's are cheap! i'm at 889 whitehorse rd box hill. i'll be at the tech day lending a hand this sunday too. I must admit i've been giving these fulda's i put on the ute a really hard time after taking the kumho's off for sam. they are really impressive. more expensive, but good.
no i wasnt saying i didnt get a good deal from u rik, what i was saying is compared to the same size in a nankang (265),they are not cheap,(twice the price)but there is no comparison between a nankang and a maz1 in quality and grip
you might have heard good things but they are cheap for a reason.. I recently bought 19's and had Falken FK-451 235/35/RZ19 put on them, I'd take you for a ride and you'd understand why they are so expensive, $430 per tyre.. very happy with them though
I have 4 Maxxis tyres They are the MAV1's however as they didn't make the Z1 in 18 inch wheel sizes. As I was strapped for cash as it was I just got them all the same for the 17" fronts and 18" rears. (The tyre doesn't look as pretty as the Z1s though) $149 each for the front (235/45R17) and $279 each for the rears (265/35R18). I was hoping to get Nexxens at the time but the shop didn't stock them and didn't have time to look at others. Still, very happy with them. Even though I haven't given them a sporty run in, the rears are certianly better feeling than the Falken Ziex that were on there previously.

I've got the MA-V1's on the front and Nankang NS2's on the back. Will definately consider the MA-Z1's when the tyres wear out.
