EOI - 2nd hand series 2 PTUs - $170 delivered

Was thinking of getting a series 2 ptu but first I will relocate the Series 1 ptu at a different place on the car somewhere cooler and see if I have any issues.

Not really keen on getting anything thats got to do with electrical second hand don't know how reliable they would be. An item like this I would prefer new, for the sake of reliability.

Let us know what interest you have and your opinion about second hand Series 2 ptu. If my series 1 ptu fails after relocation and if you still have the interest I would let you know

 

is there any evidence of a series 2 ptu failing?, i would probably be interested in one, fleet

 

I would be interested too, provided they are tested and come with some sort of warrenty if they fail with in a selected time frame.

Not a bad price either.

 

I've heard of a couple that were faulty brand new...

...other then this I havn't heard of one failing yet.

Only thing I've heard of with Series 2 PTU's

are that the connector pins (where they clip onto the factory wiring loom plug) can sometimes need to be reseated to make a proper connection but that would happen only once as you fit them and is a quick and permanent fix (just pushing the pin so it makes proper contact with the other side).

Never heard of an internal failure on any series 2 PTU's...

So this is probably a good deal if you can't afford the extra hundred extra or so for a new one.

In any case, ANYONE with an existing Series 1 WILL require a replacement PTU at some stage (as all the S1 PTU's would seem to have a 99% failure rate at some stage) so any opportunity to get a series 2 (either new or 2nd hand) will be beneficial...

Doing it NOW is a preventative maitenance convenience I'd recommend instead of breaking down on the side of the road and being stuck with a failed S1...

i know how that feels! stuck on the side of the freeway with a buggered s1. had to sleep in the car for about 5 hours before it decided to start again.. soon as i got into my drive way it failed again. Havent had any problems with the s2 ptu and 170 is a great price

looks like I will only have a few available. I will know the exact number soon.
