I know there's some on here that don't feel there is much gain from UDs but every little bit adds up. Thoughts? Cheers Grahame.
In TTs the 94 moved to electric HICAS so it has the same steering pump as the NAs with a 3-rid pulley vs the 4-rib of hydraulic HICAS TTs.
Partially correct........ TT's built from September 1993 & later are fitted with electrically operated HICAS, whereas earlier versions up to August 1993 were fitted with the hydraulic system. As such, the power steering pumps/pulleys (& pump mounting bracket), power steering rack & crankshaft damper/pulleys, as well as the drive belts are different compared to the hydraulic HICAS versions. In all probability the power steering control unit would also be different. 1994 is often quoted as the year these changes were introduced, because the information has been sourced from the US.
Most 93 here are still S1. Pretty rare to find a 93 S2 with electrics. I guess with only 4 months left of that year.
Thanks for your input guys much appreciated. Haha Yeah I thought there was a difference. It just shows that if you are not fully aware of the intricate engineering associated with these engines and the subtle changes made to the later models to improve performance and reliability, you could certainly get into trouble purchasing the wrong product/part thinking that they look the same. It's best to ask on here to be sure. Cheers Grahame.
