So a lady in her forties,Denise, is working in the offices of the premier of Darwin. Its the beginning of the nineties and her office overlooks the busy warf and docks where her husband,Peter, works as a customs officer. Peter receives a call from his wife and she says to him "I've just seen my car",Peter looks around and sees a 'Porsche' looking car that has just been freshly landed onto the docks ready for delivery. He looks inside and around the car and couldn't believe it was a Nissan. The next day he walks into Nissan dealership and orders the second 300zx to land in Darwin and the second Zed to be registered in the Territory. Peter and Denise looked after that zed religiously and spared no expense in replacement parts that according to Peter " had to be original " parts. Every body knows Denise in Darwin with her zed and personalised plates, she wanted to keep the zed and pass it on to the grand daughters, but apparently they like the mazda 3 ... So, understandably, after 26 years of ownership, she was the first and last to drive the zed as she dropped it off at the loading compound readying for shipment to its new owner. I'd like to introduce my little white wolfy - 1990 Aus spec manual Ive only been in the club a short time but I have been looking a lot longer, and I can say that I haven't seen an 'original' zed in this condition yet. I bought this vehicle sight unseen and spent considerable time with the owner/s over emails and long telephone calls (they are both in their seventies). I guess I got lucky with this one. yes, thats an original 'squishy' spoiler.. no bumps anyone wishing to see more may view the album http://s1120.photobucket.com/user/STocKi77/White%20Wolf/story
Well that's just gorgeous, well done! Owners of one owner Z's would be getting a little elderly so I suppose a few of these will start coming up for sale. Another member said there's a 28,000km 25th Anniversary model locked upon a garage somewhere in NSW that doesn't get driven because the owner has arthritis. And the interior matches the condition of the exterior?
What a clean looking Z I would be putting that in the shed on club plates for the next 10 years or so.
Great introduction, great buy .. and may you have great times with your White Wolf beastie ..... !!!!!
Thanks fellas, I'm happy this car is in the club, and cant wait to show those around me the beauty in the flesh. She's not 'immaculate' and has her faults but overall just presents straight and original. I'll talk about the things I need to attend to shortly as I'll be looking for some guidance no doubt. Cheers mate, I'm glad I've got an aussie one in this condition, it time warps you back when driving it and I'll be keeping this one in the stable for keeps. I just hope the ones that will be up for sale like this, go to enthusiasts. I will take more pics the next time I'll drive her with the interior but I can say its all complete minus the slider knob on the manual aircon control pod and a stopper on the drivers seatbelt that was replaced with a large paperclip..lol. the seatbelts themselves look brandnew, like they were replaced, but I have noticed a couple of things with them. I even received in a box, in the boot, the original cassette player and cd combo stereo that has died and was replaced with an Alpine deck but I'm hoping to restore it. The previous owner had sheepskin seat covers for its entire life and the ones I received with the car were only his second set. I couldn't believe the condition of both front seats when I removed the sheepskins for cleaning. Pictures I'll post here are from the original advert, when I received the car it wasnt dirty... just a little dusty. carpets had the original mats that are crumbling on the backside but still in excellent condition and the car had rubber mats front and back. The dash is in great condition, the 'lift' that occurs around the windshield vents are only just beginning to happen. The fella is Peter, husband of previous owner. Cheers Stu, I'm glad your here nice and early mate I'll be bringing this one around your work some time to get some things done if possible. Thanks mate, I'll bring it to the next Tech day maybe.. I still have another zed to choose from..lol Only one other club member has seen her, Andy and Michelle.. and I end up showing him mine and he ends up selling me his So the white wolf becomes a relic and club outing princess and the silver sword becomes my daily fly about. Cheers Dazza. Yep, she's in storage at the moment and I'll be fixing and replacing as needed to keep her condition.
WOW. JUst WOW. Pay attention everyone.... THIS IS A 300ZX. THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE MEANT TO LOOK LIKE Very jelly, even though it's not a TT, I would have that in my garage in a heartbeat! On another note, good to know who we can lean on to "close roads"
Well done. That's a very nice original 'Z' you've managed to snare there. I like the 'Nissan' embossed seat covers too. Look after those as I'm not sure if you're still able to get those off 'Nissan' anymore. Cheers Grahame.
Woow... That's Incredible Makes your heart beat faster just looking at it! The Z (particularly the 300zx) will allways have that unique effect on me. It's even different than the effect a 99' Diablo VT has on me... absolutely unique!
lol.. cant say I've never had the thought cross my mind mate. When I was taking delivery of it, It was expected in 10-12 days from Darwin to PortHedland, The driver woke me up from night shift at 2.30pm three days later saying he'll be in town at 7.30..lol Wasn't complaining and a credit to Patrick's delivery service, but I had to quickly train up a clients safety rep to hold my position for an hour an half from work that night to guide this semi to our depot. I blocked off the road behind so the semi could have the road My work car, top right with lights a-blaze Cheers mate, I know exactly what you mean, its a timeless shape you just cant help but stare at. I love the look on folks faces when I tell them how old this "nice car, what is it?" is. :zlove: Thanks Grahame, I dont think they are the Nissan ones, I could be wrong but, The previous owner mentioned a place or company name where he bought/ordered them from. I will try to ask him again in my nest correspondence with him.
Wow mate! Such a clean Z in original condition and obviously well loved. By the sounds of things this Z is on a good run with another passionate owner to be custodian for the next quarter century :zlove:
Hope everyone had a good, fattening xmas I took Wolfie here out for a spin, to enjoy the sunshine and get some air through her. After a couple of hours, I see this.. Any tips, tricks or advice on how to fix it? Would it be possible to have it recovered? It looks like its been recovered in the past but I haven't seen this affect on vinyl inside 300's so unsure.
The trims are relatively easy to remove as per this guide http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/tech/trim/doortrim.htm I'm not a trimmer but you could try reglueing with something like Selleys Kwikgrip Gel; you'd need to get all the old stuff off with acetone first though. Good old Aussie sun mate tests any car trim. Good luck with it.
Replace the trim, velour looks gorgeous in a white zed pity you are in WA, I think I have an auspec tweed pass door card in the shed
While taking the car back to storage I also noticed bubbling on both the A-pillars they both look like they've been removed and not put in correctly so again I'm assuming this is all from a previous attempt to fix. If finding a decent tweed door card wasnt bad enough..lol now I have to find A-pillar covers I agree the velour looks sweet, I have it in the '93 TT, but I'm trying to keep this one as original as possible. If your door card is tip top condition I would pay postage, no worries. PM me with a pic please, if you can help mate.
Update.. So I had the privilege of driving of driving her for the past two and a bit weeks due to the absence of her TT sister. Being built on March 1990, I thought I'd give her a bit of a birthday.. First stop, Bridgstone. I needed to start eliminating the left steering push she had and new shoes was the first step. Got her some Potenza adrenalin RE003 Found out why she was pulling left. I cant believe I drove over 1600kms like this, dodging cows, sheep, goats and roos :br: You can see the bulge in comparison with the rear tyre So now she doesnt pull left and drives sweet and straight Interior parts included new tailored black mats with a white Z embroided on them. Also, a pair of oem A pillar trims to replace the bubbling ones. An area of the car of was least impress with was the engine bay. Its spent all its life in Darwin and it showed. So time to get the degreaser and toothbrush out and get to work. Pic sent from previous owner before arrival After Stage one.. main degrease and scrub, took faarkin hours.. yes it was night before I gave up. I left foaming degreaser overnight on the stubborn parts, ready for the onslaught of savagery toothbrush cleaning the following day. Next days efforts.. Will leave it like this until I can find somewhere to get under it for a bit. to be continued..
