Anyone familiar with ECUTalk? Can you run it on a PC & import a data file? I have it loaded on a PC, but it looks like the only input is via a COM Port.
If you have a USB consult/ECUtalk cable - open device manager and under COM ports check what number is has been assigned. You need to have the cable connected to a consult port (I think). I will see if it works without if you want.
nope, check what port its set at from windows, and tell ecutalk what port to look for it on. As for importing data, im not sure, only ever used it live.
Looking at the ECUTalk manual, it doesn't look like it's possible to download/upload data. I was sent a file that was labeled as an ECUTalk file, hence I was trying to view it using ECUTalk.
Ecutalk log files are usually viewable via a text editor (notepad / WordPad) or importable into Excel. Don't think the ecutalk itself has the ability to read and replay files.
That's interesting, Thanks Col. I tried viewing the file in Excel, but it looked like hex decimal. I now believe the file wasn't actually obtained via ECUTalk. Just to clarify for future reference, you can view the files on a PC running ECUTalk & save them in the mentioned programs. Is that correct?
