Hay guys just a quick question. We are installing a adjustable fuel pressure reg on the TT, do you remove the fuel damper aswell or leave it on? Cheers for the help.
It depends on the dampening capabilities of the reg. The dampener is there to reduce pressure variation within the rail caused by the pulsing of the injectors. A reg like turbosmart FPR series for example has very good dampening characteristics. Generally the consensus is to remove.
To what end? Removing it may simplify the system yes, but other than that removing it serves no purpose I can see. I think there's a habit of "delete everything" that's not always justified with the z. Doesn't need to be that way for everything.
Some do lean towards delete, I lean towards keep where possible. So I went with the Nismo FPR, although it needed some tricky bending modification to make it fit stock location, I am very happy with it but it isn't sexy or anodised but that fitted in with my "nothing to see here officer" spec. https://conceptzperformance.com/nis...l-pressure-regulator-22670-rr710-us_p_267.php To my knowledge originally done by tektrader, I think these are his pics.
If it had any negative impact removing it then no i wouldnt but if theres no negative impact and its just one more thing removed from our already packed bays is there any reason to keep it?
The other reason to remove is if you're upping the flow, don't want the dampener being a restriction.
If it had any positive impact on the fuel delivery. Do you think the NISSAN engineering team would have not included it in the system? Do you think it is something the engineering team decided to include merely to complicate the system & increase production costs?
Obviously it did on the factory set up but by replacing the factory reg with a sard makes it a different case does it not. Please correct me if im wrong but You wouldn't install a hi flow cat converter and leave the factory one there aswell would you.
The subject was the Fuel Damper. rob260 outlined its purpose. If you are of the opinion it serves no purpose, delete it.
