Hey guys, can anyone tell me what this is? As per the photos below. It's OEM by the looks of it. Also, when installing central locking or an alarm unit on our Z's, where are the indicator wires located to splice into? Are they anywhere near the fuse box in the driver's foot well? https://onedrive.live.com/redir?res...authkey=!AGcuc9ifrHZHIrA&v=3&ithint=photo,jpg https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=69BB2573387C57FC!15787&authkey=!AG-QO6ZIETGMGq8&ithint=folder, Thank you Peter
If it was OEM, it would have the standard Nissan Z32 part number on it, featuring prominently .... does not appear to be the case.
True, it just looks like a Nissan part to me with that bracket and the way it's mounted. Also the plug looks like a standard Nissan plug like all the rest. I have a feeling this might be the control box for the front parking antenna that some Jap Cars are fitted with to facilitate parking. Mine had it and it was removed b/c it looked ugly. Otherwise, part of a Nissan alarm or central locking? It's interesting.
I've found one in another car too, can't remember it's specs but was JDM. If it's not factory it's at least common, maybe a piggy back box for mongoose alarms?
It's for the mast that is fitted to the front bumper (option) to help with parking. Does your car have the little black antenna on the front bumper? If not, it may have been removed at some point.
If your Z was originally sold with the optional anti-theft system, it's probably the control unit. And Nissan didn't even put part numbers on their remotes so probably no Nissan part number on it.
Yes, the car had that antenna at the front LHS of the fascia. It was removed. The switch for it is actually mounted on the stereo fascia near the clock. It looks like a proper Nissan switch. That's gone now since the stereo fascia was replaced with the aftermarket double din type. Was central locking an option on 90ZTT's? Mine doesn't have it. So it's in at the electricians at the moment getting fitted together with an immobiliser. I can't believe NISSAN never fitted an immobiliser to such a car. What the heck?
I'm fitting remote central locking to it at the moment and spoke to the electrician about an anti-theft system which is ridiculous that it was never fitted as Standard on these cars. When did anti theft become std? or did it ever?
The original fascia was damaged and was changed about 7yrs ago. The antenna was removed since I didn't like it and never used it. The switch is probably around somewhere. It has an antenna mark on it.
