Hi, Looking to redo the bushes in 1) Subframe 2) Rear Hubs and the Shock mount Wondering if one of these at home gclamp style kits you can get from auto stores would work? I feel the hub/shock mount could be OK however would like a second opinion. What about the Subframe? I see most people burn them out which leads me to believe it might not be that easy. Thanks:br:
Should be ok for the hubs but unless you've got hours to spare take it to s shop to press the subframe bushes out
No idea man mind was completely stripped when I started pressing things out so I'm not sure off the top of my head if you'd have enough access etc with the thing in one piece. Someone will ipe fully chime in. This thread http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=302197 has a lot of good info
Never used the G clamp style, but z32 bushes are rubber in a steel sleeve and that sleeve will be tight by now. I used a shop press I picked up of ebay for under $200 new. A quote from a workshop was $25 a bush so investing in the press made the most sense as Iv used it to do 6 pushes and still have 10 more to change over.
I pulled the hubs off to do mine. I wouldn't bother doing the subframe mounts unless they really need changing. Prick of a job.
if you are replacing with poly bushes, all of them can be done by burning out the bush and cutting the shell with a sabre saw or hacksaw. its a shit of a job but it can be done. no press needed
Thanks for everyones help, this is all great info. The car is being built for track so its SPL solids all the way
Just a tip if you are fitting the solids yourself. Put them in the freezer overnight and just whack them in with a hammer and a piece of wood (leveling even purpose) It may sound brutal but it does no negative damage and the freezer trick really helps.
