Ive been told that in order to keep velocity u have to have the same diameter pipe work as what the compressor outlet is. so for stock turbos would that mean 2.5" is to big? what are v'3s.
Yes correct. But not necessarily correct in the world of possible upgrades. In considering the zed's "possible" platform, it is best to keep your long term goals in mind. Most common Z32 SMIC's upgrades available.. Ashspec V2's or V3's Z1 smic's Z1 BA smic's Stillen smic Japspec smic + 2-3 more. Most or if not all of these coolers are 2.5" so if you were planning to do the cooler you may be doing piping as well. I'm not too familiar but... more air = more fuel = more power!
These HKS are going for a good price http://www.importmonster.com.au/view?url=http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m138531641
Supersize Japtek's - is there anything bigger? Go with what your budget allows and is suited to your purpose Incidentally I have a cheap set of HKS smic's for sale
I've also seen cheap ebay crap pull some impressive numbers, the biggest thing to watch out for on cheap intercoolers is the welds. Cheap mass produced IC's tend to have poor welds which can have stalagmites on the inside of the cooler. These can the break under pressure and end up eating up your turbo.
Yep Ash spec massives are good too, like many other larger version smic's That Japtek crap has cooled many cars running high numbers before with no problems - you will have no shortage of people to argue with on them. bang for buck japteks or the better quality pricier ash spec massives - it depends on your budget JC
I use 2.5in japtechs with 2.5in piping all round, so not a like for like compare. But the SMIC fit fine for what it is worth.
I did get the japtec ducts also. A bit of dicking around to get them to fit which is documented on the forum somewhere. I use foglight ducts so that wasn't as issue. And I have a 2k bar and needed slight trimming of some of the plastic on the back of the front indicators.
