I have bought my Z back. For the second time as I wanted to get a 2+2 for family reasons but that wasn't needed anymore. So I bought my old Z back. AGAIN :)

The reason was I was unable to find one with similar specs. So my question is. Are 2+0 manual TT targas with black leather interior rare? It seems they must be, as I couldn't find another with black interior anywhere. And I don't just mean black seats, I mean the whole shebang.

The chasis/colour combination is somewhat common.
But MANUAL 2+0 TT are fairly rare given overall production numbers

What's the trim code on the VIN plate?
However it sounds as though the interior may have been modified, if the statement "And I don't just mean black seats, I mean the whole shebang." means all the interior is black.

According to his garage he has a 1990 model so he would have to have modified interior.

The rarity aspect of this vehicle could be comparable to finding a Speed Camera in Sydney!

I'll post the trim code tonight after work

Even though it seems my car is everywhere, I would like to know if the car is original, as it certainly looks it. While it may be as common as a sydney speed camera, at least it's not 4 foot under water like everything in that dump of a town :)

    Cz32-501572

    CZ32-501572 - Built October 1989
    The K indicates it's a Targa Top
    The R indicates it's a VG30DE series engine
    Z32 is the model
J indicates trim level GL (Standard)
    S indicates Twin Turbo
There's something wrong with the model code as FAST doesn't recognise it!
    RS5R30A indicates a 5 speed manual transmission
    RD37 indicates it's a R230 Twin Turbo differential
AG2 - Exterior Colour being Aztec Red
G - Trim Code being Charcoal

The trim code being G, also your previous description, would indicate the interior has been modified since rolling off the production line in 1989.

There you have it, this vehicle would be as rare as a pair of chopsticks in China Town. :p

If you wanna find a rare Zed, you only need look no further than carsales or gumtree.. just about every add I seem to look at claims their version is 'rare'.;)

Why not just be happy that you have a nice example of one Japan's finest?

I don't know why I bother at times with this forum

 Chopsticks in Chinatown are RARE these days as all the Gwai lo's use knives and forks .[/QUOTE]

You're quote and many of the others are funny and others helpful. Others still are just trying to make you feel like a newb. I wasn't trying to say my car was rare, I was asking as I couldn't find another.

But while we are at it, yes the interior is more of a charcoal colour than black. So it seems that it is totally original. Which is really a good thing.

Judging from the info from FAST if the interior has anything other than grey tweed it has been modified.

You asked the question "is it rare", don't be offended if the answer is "no". In between the friendly banter this thread contains a wealth of information pertaining to your car, hopefully it can be of some use.
