Pic's to go with the above post ( won't let me edit ) Water storage, high pressure pump and safe injection module. Passenger side nozzle placed before the air temp sensor. Used a 10L fuel cell for water storage. Boot floor level has been raised to accommodate a full size spare, also minimises the intrusion of the water cell and battery. Also fitted a "SHiFT-i" progressive shift light.
Are those stock wrx injectors that have been de-capped(highflowed)? I have a set of light blue wrx injectors that have been de-capped and was wondering how they are idle/tuning wise.
Yes, they de-capped 565cc STi injectors so now flow 800cc. They idle just fine e.g I have 274' duration cams with vtc disabled and set @ +8 deg ... idles smooth @ 950rpm Tuning wise I guess they are ok, I don't do the tuning but the guy who does recommended using them, he says they are no different to the Injector Dynamics injectors.
Finally got the car in for it?s tune after fixing the fuelling issues from last time ? Alas, there is still an hour or 2 left to do as we decided to cut the session short due to a lot of oil being blown out the breathers ? at first we thought we had blown a oil line, got the heart racing a bit ? Anyway onto the important bits ? just to recap what was done the car since the last tuning attempt: * Fitted a 2nd Aeromotive 340 Fuel Pump set to come on @ either 55% injector Duty Cycle or 14.5psi which ever comes first. * Fitted an-8 fuel line from the pumps and an-6 return. * Fuel pumps are wired directly to the battery via relays ( guarantied NO voltage drop ) * Fitted water ( only ) injection set to come on @ 8psi min and 25psi max ? failsafe fitted and set to change to a non water injected Timing and Fuelling map if a problem is detected. * Inlet Cam Timing has been advanced form +6 deg to +10.5deg Without Water Injection: *Boost level = 20psi achieved @ 4500rpm ( previous tune = 19psi @ 4750 ) *446 rwkw @ 6851rpm ( previous tune = 333 rwkw @ 6965rpm ) *698 Nm @ 4500rpm ( previous tune = 644 Nm @ 4888rpm ) With Water Injection: *Boost = 23psi @ 4500rpm *490 rwkw @ 6896 rpm *772 Nm @ 4611rpm Improvement on 1st Tune ... The running out of fuel one: *Power @ 4500rpm went from 256kw to 362kw by adding +4.5deg cam timing, 3psi boost and water injection *Torque @ 4500rpm went from 550Nm to 765Nm ? Who said 3071r Turbos are ?laggy? on our engines. More work is needed to: * Refine the Water Injection delivery e.g.: will most likely replace the Snow Performance Module with a Solid State Relay so the ECU can control when and how much. * Modify the Crankcase breather system, what I have is completely inadequate at this power level. Dave ( Tuner ) was keen to try just another half a psi ? said it would do 500kw ? but I wimped out ? watch this space Graph with Water Injection vs No Water.
210-220rwkw at 4000RPM? Mate that is bloody fantastic! That shits on any 28RS/2871R result by far in terms of low end power and then eats them alive in the top. Top work!
Wow !! 4000rpm I'm only at 180rwkw Great work, so your run GT3071? That's great work!! Surprised you couldn't push a little more boost but,
Very impressive figures, but more interestingly how does it drive? It wasn't that it couldn't, but rather decided against.
Cheers ... very happy with the low-mid range. The top end could possibly improved by retarding the CAMs but that would hurt the other end ... might have play with the CM timing when I get the breathing issue sorted.
Yes ... GT3071r with .64 T25/28 Turbine Housings. Would have pushed the boost unto 25psi but finding nearly half a litre of oil spewed out onto the floor put me off a little. Will go to the 25psi when the breathing thing is sorted.
Cheers ... drives nicely, very responsive to small throttle openings ... giving it some "jandle" it can only be described as BRUTAL ... the rear tyres are going to hate me.
No it doesn't there is also transient response which you have to look at But very very good for that size turbo .
Cheers ... very tempted to go to bigger valves ( currently factory ) and some MSP exhaust manifolds ( currently ported factory ).
Butt dyno detects no delay of boost coming on in the next gear ... change gear, foot on the loud peddle and you are instantly forced back into your seat. That's how they are done and do give a fair indication of what is going on... though I have seen a Dyno run for a Rally car showing all gear pulls.
