Has anyone thought about putting side pipes on their car, something like the AC Cobra's or early Corvette's?:zlove:
Lol . No I can't say i have, but now that you mention it I would love to see a picture if any one has one
Would be easiest with a 2+2 I would imagine as you could modify the foot space of the back seats to house the new tunnel for the pipes. A bit of work needed.
No. Pretty sure there is a regulation as to how far the exhaust outlet needs to be from opening windows / doors.
All exhaust systems must be ADR compliant. Exhaust Outlet ADR's are in section 10 of this document. http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/F2011C00102 I think the most relevant ones are: note that 10.1.1 supersedes 10.1.2 also note that if your vehicle was designed to comply with 10.1.3 it may not necessarily comply with 10.1.2
The basic premise is that the pipes have to be BEHIND the last opening to the passenger compartment of the side. As Z32's are hatchbacks the last opening is the hatch so they have to exit behind the hatch. Sedans are different and I have seen them exit behind the back of rear doors before.
I couldnt imagine anything looking much stupider on a zed than sidepipes........... They look ridiculous on anything except....... well i cant think of anything really..... E
Shock/Horror!!! Are we now condemned to an absence of Z32/Corvette Stingray clones(infesting our beloved Highways 'n' Byways)? "Oh the Humanity!!!":br:
One of the most successful Nissan race cars ran side exhaust pipes. The red, white & blue, Cunningham Racing prepared Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo, driven by Steve Millen.
Damn this car looks cool Image too big to post. http://cdn6.downshiftmagazine.com/w...en-300ZX-Twin-Turbo-Z32-75-IMSA-1920x1200.jpg
So what? EVERY race car runs side pipes. because they are lighter, straighter and easier to fabricate. Makes perfect sense. On a ROAD car, they look just plain stupid, EVEN on Vettes and Camaros. Why not just fit dumps exiting the bonnet like a boss? Looks just as bogus lmao! E
Oh plain old side exit exhaust, i was thinking about something far more exciting than that from the cars mentioned by the OP.
