    All,

Looking for some pointers on a loud "whoooooo" noise (yes, it sounds exactly like it does when you say that). It is not loud when engine is cold, but progressively gets louder as the engine gets hotter and increases in volume rapidly over about 1500rpm and is barely audible below. All my reading read me to believe it was the fan clutch making the noise, however, I have since replaced with a new OEM part and the noise is the same.

91 TT - the engine is fully built w/ forged internals, PE1420 turbos, cams, etc.

Noise does not appear to be turbo related, if that's what you are thinking - it is present and loud even without drive train engaged and any boost being built - ie. just by revving up - the loudness is a factor of heat/RPM.

I have heard of people refer to the noise as the "truck noise", that really loud roaring noise trucks make.

Yeah my TT does this as well, it's very annoying!! I was thinking it might have something to do with air flow or induction???

Possibly the pod filter? It tended to make that sort of induction noise on my old car, almost like a truck engine braking sound.

This would imply clutch in and coasting down a hill?
or can you make it roar like that when you rev it while waiting for a green light?

I would say its the fan clutch engaging which makes that sort of noise .
