Carsales link Assuming the ad isn't just a typo and it's actually been registered as a 1994 model. Anybody want what looks to be a genuine 2+2 manual TT 2k spec zed??
I don't understand why everyone loves those 2k headlights. They look like crazy eyes to me? Same Same?
Could well be a 2k, Or could also be a mock up, its missing the wing, skirts, and for some odd reason the headlights just dont look right.. Adam's didnt look that chrome!
Weren't they permitted under... ...the old compliance system? Twelve years ago when I got mine I'm sure there was a mob in Brisbane doing later models too... then the law changed.
Doubt it's a mock up, I think only the type R's got the side skirts, plus it has the manual ac controls and 2k spec dash cluster.
Looks like a 2k to me, well spotted! The headlights appear to be missing a black strip that runs along the base of the insert. That wing has to be destroyed ASAP. Interior is pretty much the same as mine.
Jono The steering column plastics have that extra hole in the left hand side - does yours have a switch or something in there? my 97 has the hole but nothing to go in it, I see this car has the hole but it looks like nothing in it - yours?
Im going to say its a mock up. Inconstancy between roof trim condition, targa is good small hatch strip silver. General condition for a 2000 looks a little rough, been painted I would say, tow hook looks rough and well used, I dunno doesnt look right. Cruise control stalk missing, also a bit of radiator support damage by the look of it, it could be legit but doesnt add up in my eyes.
I'm thinking its a 2k conversion. Didn't the 2k spec zeds have the carbon fibre look stereo surround?
Thats an Australian generated compliance VIN, there is a prescribed coding but it generally cannot be taken as gospel as sometimes they will use their own serial for the end number and sometimes use the Jap VIN end etc. Also a TT 2+2 is a GCZ32, not a GZ32 thats a NA 2+2. Example: GZ32 005130 Build: 03/90 Colour: 732 (Black) Engine: VG30DE Seat: 2+2 Trans: Auto
Yep, that is for the later style cruise control. It is operated with a stalk similar to the indicators/high beam. Mine has a rubber bung neatly plugging the hole.
I don't think rough condition is enough for it NOT to be a 2000 model. Lets not forget, it is almost 13 years old. My '00 exterior molds/windscreen cowls are in a lot worse condition than my '90 model (tow hooks too). The only thing I see on this car that doesn't indicate it being a 2000 model is the rear bar reflectors. They are more an orange colour than red. Everything else looks legit to me, from the door cards, window switches, seats, cluster, headlights. If I lived close by, I'd have a look out of curiosity. If it isn't a 2K, it still has a lot of parts from one.
Its hard to put a finger on it, odds and ends, like the dash fit gap and other things that show its been apart big time imo, as I was saying it just doesnt add up in my eyes, might be wrong, but I will put a $50 dollar note where my mouth is if you would like to play. Must be on it before 5am 02/12/12.
I'll take you up on that brisz, I'd bet $50 that it's a genuine 2k spec that's had a dodgy done with the plates to get it registered in the country. Now who in vic wants to go have a look at this thing for us
Why would anyone see a 1990 manual air con vent pod controls and believe it is a genuine 2K. Did the spec drop in 2K.
Around 95/96/97 the climate control became an option in Japan with manual aircon controls as standard probably since they were cheaper to manufacture.
Ahhh of course, is what I was assuming but wanted to confirm, when I think about there might be a little plastic plug in the box of crap from the interior to plug the hole. I just used a good set of plastics from an earlier car - looks tidier Thanks.
