I'd do it all again. Why? Because you always want what you don't have. I bet, for example if you did what you wanted (stanced, near stock) you would get bored of it eventually and want to do the big crazy build that you're doing now.
Like others have said, I have wasted a lot of money having to do things more than once. But I never had a solid path to follow, it evolved as time and money allowed. Hindsight is a wonderful thing & yes I would do things a lot differently if I had my time over. But you live and learn & nobody can tell you what the future holds. No regrets.
If I chose to do it again I'd spend all the money on a TT engine and leave the body stock except for wheels, coilovers and a Brazilian, also 2k lights Pretty much the same as this, but with fog light ducts and blacked out aus spec corner nights In saying that I've spent enough money on the outside, so to put it all back to stock will most likely never happen. My taste changes way to often, and I'm sure in 6 months ill like something completely different...
Thats because there is no such thing as "the completed result" for those that enjoy the modification scene
Haha - yeh - it gets like that chrispy! I would do something similiar - probably back to a Shelby Style Kit Cobra with a 427 - just get straight to the "hit up the arse by a semi trailer effect" but without the fussiness and complicated requirements. If I did the Z again which is very possible (I will always love the Z's shape and style forever!) then I would do everything that I have done but without any mistakes from experience - lol. Yes I would do it all myself - as I would never let anyone do any work on any of my cars - because if you do it yourself - you know it was done properly without shortcuts and done to specs or you would pull it apart again (hence the no mistakes from experience).
Haha - good one!:rofl::rofl: Can relate to that! I feel like I changed my mind 97 times though!:rofl::rofl::rofl: Bloody Z's and options!
i'd modify it differently to start with but with the same intentions i have now, not by changing my mind a number of times and wasting heaps of time and money. i'd save my cash for a VQ30DET conversion with good mods, full drift spec suspension setup, decent fat rims and rubber and plenty of track time. still, i have have learnt lots from all the work i've done and i feel i'm heading in the right direction for sideways happiness.
I did it again.... then again.... The original, defectus multiplus is sitting under a car cover, awaiting its "lets try it again"
I haven't gotten to the point where I can say "I'd do it again", but I've spent a fair bit of cash getting it running and can't wait to get some power out of it next week finally. Have a pretty simple idea that I don't think I'll have a drama sticking to (will take ages, though): Big power (in the distant future, will probably buy another engine/turbos and internals to build and swap) Subtle exterior (pretty much like it is now. Can't justify dropping thousands on a respray so at some stage I'll get small areas of paint corrected and blended) Some nice rims Steering mods for more lock to drift it (nowhere near other cars ) Keep the interior stock and minimalistic, will add some nice seats at some stage and have a go at either stripping the tweed or dying it black. I'm not into sound systems and shit like that. I just want my car to go fast, stop well and turn well. If I ever have the $$ for 350rwkw I'll be happy. I'd like to fit aircon back into it at some stage too, lol. I think I've got a decent base to start with the haltech, teins and all the other bits. I just want something subtle that gets my heart pumping, lol.
I'd just buy your car Rob. I'll have spent about that much by the time I'm finished with this one, and it will only be a pretty much stock car.
I would love to buy robs car. I do wonder about the logistics of getting it registered interstate. not to mention I am plenty thousands of dollars short to pay for it.
I'd get a TT instead of the modded NA. When I first test drove the NA and a very hot TT I thought the NA was plenty for me to handle. I had trouble keeping the TT below 80kph. Now... the NA is OK but you can always do with a bit more umphh can't you.
It has all import/compliance documentation, but I'd imaging you would need to find a "friendly" roadworthy place to turn a blind eye to things like coilovers and rosejoineted control arms.
