Morning all, Inbetween moving house I somehow lost my wheel locknut tool.. Had a very good look for it in 2 houses, still cant find it.. Im aware of the smashing a elcheapo socket onto the nut and forcing it off that way.. but I have a feeling that I may not have enough clearance around the sides of the nut.. Mine has a flower pattern embedded in the face of the nut and not on the sides, so its pretty fat.. Not much clearance on the sides. Just like the set on the right hand side of this picture.. Thinking that I may have to use those drill type ezyouts on the face of it.. if that will work? I do have the complete set of irwin ezyout sockets for rainy days but locknut are definitely too big for them..
I would've thought the easiest way would be to get the car on stands and cut off the backs of the studs with a grinder?
I haven't checked behind the wheel but that definitely sounds very dodgy I might have to go to tire shop if I still cant find the tool.
Lol! I may only be left with the nuts instead Actually female coworker asked what was wrong with my car today.. I started explaining I had a problem with my 2 nuts.. You see I have 2 different lock nuts.. got the tool for one nut but not for the other nut.. Hmm I should have opened the conversation in another way instead of talking about my 2 nuts
Just smash it off Thats all the wheel shop will do. Smash it on and smash it off.. and charge you for the privilege. I did mine recently. I took a hour driving to shops trying to find the lock nut keys with no luck.. and then 10 mins to smash the things off with force.
