Power Steering rack and pump needs to be replaced on my 90 Aus-delivered NA.

After a quick search I believe that a TT rack/pump will fit onto my NA, can anyone confirm this so I don't get the wrong part!

Also can anyone recommend a mechanic who is willing to install them in North Brisbane/Brisbane!

    Thank you

    wrong

they arent interchangible. you would have to change the bracket to use a TT and then would have to devein and block off one of the chambers (assuming its a TT pump from a hydraulic hicas zed)

you can buy rebuild kits for them, i bought one years ago and have since lost the details of the supplier, kit contained seals, orings, bearings, copper washers etc.

He is talking about the pump, which is different and will require the tt bracket and modification to the pump as it has extra outlets for the hicas.

Steering racks have slightly different ratios but are interchangable between the two.

Why not just get your steering pump and rack rebuilt instead?

Thanks for the info guys, I will get a rack from a local wrecker and a NA pump from a member.

    Appreciate the info!

    hmm

I had my rack rebuild whilst the engine was out, cost 450 AUD, I would hate to try and remove it with the engine in place, is it possible? if the cause of the issue is 100% the pump why spend so much cash rebuilding the rack?

It would be easier to get a rack on the forum than a wrecker the price would be a heap better too. Good luck getting a second hand NA pump on here they are pretty sought after items for us TT owners doing conversions

Erics right, engine still in is fine you just have to remove that pesky pipe that runs across the front of the rack.

Originally rollin said the rack needs replacing due to a leak. I left it for a while and the leak took out the alternator. I presume that would be from a hose though?

Now a local mechanic said both the rack and pump are leaking. I picked up a decent looking rack from the wrecker on the weekend for $170 and getting an NA pump from a member.

Anyhow, thank you for all of the input!
I have both parts sorted so does anyone know someone who would be willing to install it in Brisbane?
