Two types of cores. Ones mid 200's and then mid 300's for a brass one. Both from natrad that's the best price I've found. Might be doing mine tomorrow so I'll let ya know how it goes

Flip, the 90's mirage/lancer core is a perfect swap, Superior Radiator Services at moorebank sell's them, they are distributed to them through ADRAD. They are a good price.

    Give them a Call:

The guy at natrad thought so. Have a look thru the tech section there's a how to about pulling the dash if your thinkin bout it your self. Ment to take afew hours so might as well and save ya self some coin. Also if your dash is lifting round the demist vents it's a good time to fix that

Firstly, the core doesn't fail because of heat, it fails because of corrosion(due to poor maintenance/lack of proper Coolant).

Secondly, there is no possible way that you could require a Heater Core to be capable of sustaining increased heat/temperature(the heating is provided by the temperature of your Engine Coolant, which should remain stable during normal driving/operating periods).
If the engine temperature increases to the point that it adversely affects the Heater Core, then your engine will be at melting point(if it is still operating)and you won't need a Heater.:rofl:

So today started pulling my dash out. Spent about three hours on it and I've got most of it out. Center console, all instruments and gauges are out. Think there's a few screws holding the dash in but was getting to dark to keep going. Hardest part so far was just disconnecting the dash but that was only because I couldn't get a good grip. Hopefully get it pulled out and find the leak to morrow

I hear a gurgling sound of coolant when my heater is on. I know its the coolant, but I have had no signs of leaking.. Well I haven't taken my dash off yet.

    Should I be alarmed?

I know the sound. then there's a smell of coolant. Then after I'd go for a drive my wind screen would fog up in the center. And ull notice a wet marks in the corner of the passenger foot well. And the carpent will b soaked underneath

Yer I thought it might be. I haven't ordered any parts yet. I wanted to get it apart 1st.
So spent another hour pulling the dash out today. Now I'm trying to acess the core. Does anyone no a good thread with pics? The one I was following didn't have any and isnt to descriptive about locations of things

You need to remove your Clutch Pedal Assembly so that you can get clear access to the Heater Tap and the Core(it's in the way of pulling the core out of the Heater Box).
You also need to undo a small bolt that holds the Heater Tap & Pipes to the firewall(you cannot get the core out unless you undo this bolt).

Its actually easier to take the whole heater box out . Undo the aircon box as well to make room to slip the heater box out . DOnt forget to disconnect the heater hoses imn engine bay.

Im not very flexible so I found this to work well for me .
