Website: http://www.ecutalk.com - to see what normal ones are like This one has a large LCD module, around double screen viewing area to standard one - this lcd: 146x62.5mm in size (pcb), green viewing area 123x42.5mm, 9.22mm character height std lcd: 116x40mm in size (pcb), green viewing area of 76x25.2mm, 4.75mm character height In the past, I've had the most interest on this forum regarding custom installs with LCD separated from the PCB, so now I've made one as a test, I thought someone on here might be after it. Note: the bottom USB is the one thats connected - the top usb is normally hidden by enclosure. If you want, you can tap in wires to the buttons and buy any normal pushbutton to hook it up to. Also, at full brightness, power regulator on right side PCB gets to around 60C - but you dont need full brightness really, only just enough to see in dark, so I recommend setting lower. At this stage, this is a one-off, I wont be making any others like this in the short term, and am only selling as I've moving places and trying to get rid of as much stuff as I can. Price: $220 pickup (cheaper than new) consider post only if no one can pickup Location: Blacktown NSW Contact: PM
nice for me this is what i want to see from your product: 1 Din blank, with the LCD mounted (is blue an option?) the buttons and USB the anything else behind the DIN blank or located further back somewhere in the dash.
if u can find a place that would make din blanks, with custom hole cutout, with standoff that takes a screw (e.g. for mounting lcd via the 4 holes on edge PCB as seen in picture) for cheap, then im all ears. but the costs of doing so in small quantities (say 10) is pretty big due to setup times etc. still im aiming to make changes in future batches to allow large LCD like this to be easier to do (not take the 1-2hr it does currently), along with remote buttons header etc. blue is an option in general, just not for this specific one. i think the big size screen also has a white/grey option too, maybe.
I'd be more interested and happy to fund a larger nicer version to run as a direct digital replacement for the cluster
I've had heaps of comments on how I set mine up: I think if you had them off the shelf like this they'd sell like hotcakes!
the standard enclosures do have the option for someone to make a custom front piece of sufficient width to blank out a std DIN, with the rear piece of the enclosure 'biting' onto it. unfortunately I dont have the time to spending designing all the custom stuff because people want to do it all differently (particularly different model cars will have different available slots etc). if you're after something more like this then thats not really an option - there are plenty of existing proper products out there designed for that.
1 din That's the beautiful thing about the din, it's universal if u took your standard unit, take the original v2 and replaced the front with a din compatible panel would be easy as to mount would outsell the standard v2. I will mount mine in a sin see how it goes
