There seem to be more and more disappointed Z owners about... Owners who've spent loads of money fixing issues only to discover they still have on-going problems. Given these great sports cars are now as much as 22 years old, it's not terribly surprising that some are getting a bit tired. So to help cheer-up present & future unhappy Z owners (who can be referred to this thread for inspiration), I thought, let's have a NightmareZ thread! I'll post a mint condition Z32 sales brochure (for free of course!) to whoever I reckon posts the worst / most believable story of owing the biggest lemon Z during September. To ensure that the brochure is almost as disappointing as the winner's Z, the brochure is a Canadian sales brochure written in French - great pics though! I cannot enter because I've never owned a bad Z :zlove:
I nominate OZX 320. With 14ish (?) Zs he's bound to have had a nightmare. My first Z has a leaky peer steering res. That's all. Second a stuffed gearbox. Third....nothing yet...YET! Matt :zlove:
I have a trophy that backs this up Sad thing is, I had 3 years of mint, trouble free motoring from my zed until I started mucking with it lol
my cousin lol. hit a pole in the city after being cut off, half the cars bog it turns out, decides to power on. gets side swiped by a drunk person, has no insurance and does a runner, his whole drivers side looks like swish cheese! then drives from west side to mine and boom, there goes his auto box. first car, what a lemon lol, kid shoulda listened! so a canadian / french brochure would be of much use to him haha seeing as he cant understand english.
Am flattered, but only have 4.... and no time to work on any of them Doesnt stop me from buying more parts however :zlove: My impatience got the better of me and opted for air freight for the Evolution exhaust, and S2 rear wing just arrived to add to the 3 Navan ones All... bar the Houdini Haltech POS from "we drive at 15-20km/hr under the speed limit NSW" have been a sheer delight. Only issue I have is working out which 1 takes priority for work. NA and most recent 2+2TT are getting equal attention atm.
Now I've broken down heaps but nothing like enigma. He's the ace when it comes to breakdowns. Be hard pressed to top him. Actually he's got his new motor and gearbox in so we'll see how long that lasts. Go Adam!:br:
...hahaha, that's funny. Yep, I'm tempted to PM you right now for your postal address! Don't suppose you're planning to visit a paint shop in the near future?
haha ya it's definately in the works. Need's a bit of tuning and other assorted mechanical related parts before I go cosmetic. Are you recommending someone? or just curious?
How's this - Bought the Z 4 1/2 years ago, 2 months later - Alarm wouldn't stop - new CPU and Remote $160 1 month later Battery failed $135 6 months later drain tap on radiator failed (luckily didn't overheat) $76 3 months later Air con needed new TX valve and receiver drier $604 5 months later MAS failed $695 2 months later new suspension bushes etc $579 5 months later new clutch, seals, etc $1034 2 months later recon heads, valves etc $5298 2 months later clutch master cyl $385 15 months later A/c compressor $607 plus 2 new sets tyres, wheel alignments, HID's, brake pads etc all up $11K and apart from the HIDs no upgrading yet - can't afford it. But I still luv my Z.
I agree...thats just maintenance dude  Lets see from memory. Bought black zed (sic) - $14,000 1 month in, hail storm, slidey slide into a pedestrian island decide to repaint - $5000 8 months in blew turbo seals, upgraded to HKS 2530's - $5,000 2 months after that blew motor - $10,000 6 months after that snapped conrod - $10,000 6 months after that car stolen burnt to the ground Bought red zed (sic) - $12,000 less forum contribution of $4,000 :zlove: Everything has really been maintenance on this car, no major purchases, except the usual coolant hoses, power steering hoses, brake lines, clutch lines, brake master cylinder(s), brakes, clutch, shifter bushings, center bearing, air filter, fuel filters, fuel lines, injectors, 100k service items, replacement thermo fans, replacement fuel pump, radiator, replacement ecu, shocks, springs, brake pads, brake discs, etc. Oh and the various bits of motorsport damage that occures here and there. But that's really only in 2 years and 20,000km's. And easily in the 6k mark there abouts, easily 10+ if you get someone else to do the work.
I've got two full resprays coming up but haven't decided on someone yet - let me know if you find someone brilliant before I do!
...ahhh, now we're talking - that's :zlove: right there.... Gonna take some effort to beat the black Z's story.
my z Ok went to the speed way and got home to flashing lights and my shed on fire in the shed was my Z 11 years i had owned it for ( and insurance doesnt cover the cost of the turbos ) all my tools My dirt bike My z tested me over its life first 3 mths i blew the head gasket and couldn't afford to fix it stored it for 3 years while i saved up and fixed it got it back for a years and then it did a big end a few more years re built it the right way 1.5 years ( thats another long story ) spent years just in the shed just enjoying the slow modifying and tweaking and i dont regret 1 second of owning it Then 4 months ago i lost it in the fire at the moment i am trying to decide if i start again and get a new z
