G'day, I've just found a set of Volk TE37's for sale at what I think to be a resonable price. Front 18 x 9.5" +24 fitted with 235/40/18 Bridgestone RE-01R Rear 18 x 10.5" +40 fitted with 265/35/18 Bridgestone RE-01R But would like to know if they will fit and be drivable without having to run a ridiculous amount of camber when I lower it. It wouldn't be stupidly low. And will the front offset stick out heaps?? Thanks
I'm going to say yes. But you'll have to tightly roll all 4 guards, you may have to run a bit of camber. And if you have dampening control on your suspension, you'll have to stiffen it up when you drop it. Also you "may" have turning clearance issues on the front with the plastic inner guard in tact, you might have to remove it for clearance. But, i'm also going to say, buy these at your own risk. They are outside of the wheel size and offsets that i usually safely recommend to people. And be prepared to have to do fair amounts of rolling and grinding to get them to fit without scrubbing everywhere. lol.
Would most of these issues be due to the width or the offset of the wheels?? I'm only really after the extra bit width purely for traction. May just have to buy better tires in future.
Offset is the issue. Tyre & wheel width are fine. Buy them, if you feel there is too much work involved in fitting them, I'll buy them off you for track wheels
The rears "should" be right for a nice flush look, and rolling the guards will be enough to clear them. Fronts are starting to push it. but they are do'able. (put it this way, my fronts are 19x9" +15, so they'd probably have a similar outside fitment as mine. And i had to shave a fair bit of my inner guard for my turning circle. But i have full clearance now. Your tyre choice isn't ideal for traction though, as you mentioned that's important to you. Your tyres are too narrow for these rims, and will have a lot of stretch. Stretch = not as much flat tread on the road. For the 10.5" you ideally need about a 285 or 295. For the front 9.5" you ideally want a 255 or 265. (you won't fit them under with those offsets. Anyway, that's the weigh up only you can decide against. Like i said, these rims and tyres are outside ideal fitment tolerances that i would ever recommend to people, so i won't.
I've got 19x9.5+12 with 235/35 at the front, sits flush with the guard at stock camber. I've taken out my inner wheel well lining though. On the back I have 19x10.5+22 with 265/30 which fits nicely now with around -3deg. (needs a roll) I'm with Benny though, if you're looking for more traction, well then 235 on 9.5 and 265 on 10.5 are max safe stretch and aren't ideal widths. Those TEs are concave at those sizes aren't they? Hot!
you better CHECK THE OFFSETS never seen those offsets on TE37 9.5 +12 / +22 /+35 /+40 10.5 +15 / +22 ANYTHING OVER +22 you lose concave
Offsets I was just looking around and your right about the offsets, no one else holds them. Sent them a email asking to double check though. Yeah the tyres would be going if I pick them up, don't like the streched look and doesn't help with anything. What would be the ideal offsets to chase if I want to run these size wheels, trying to keep them as flush as possible. Or am I just better of running a slightly narrower wheel for easier fitment.
