Will have to try and get some decent pics of her :zlove:
Did a small night time shoot tonight to try and get some decent pictures.
Long overdue update for my rebuild is that the car has been off the road for the past year.
It lost compression on a cylinder whilst on the dyno, exhaust valve stuck open and a couple of them tapped the top of the pistons, so the heads came off to have new valves put in, during this it was found there was some softness in the heads and a deviation in the camshaft tunnel, so the heads from my old engine will be used instead. Hoping that it will progress quickly in the next month or so.
Great looking Z.
The Zed went back for a dyno tune last week and picked up about 40rwkw compared to the tune from april this year, it's being held back now due to a fuel supply issue, once that is sorted then it will be tuned again to see what it can do.
Some photos from the last few days.
looking fantastic, congrats!
very nice work , car will be crazy once all done , keep up the good work , my only thing would be to change those turbos to the newer gtx/w and also go up in size 100% ill be running precision turbos my self , but yeah, the rest is great this engine should see some good power , would be great to drive ,
either way great job , good on you
WOW that bottom photo is 10/10 ,
Dyno graph and video from a Dyno day power run the other month, was running a blended tank of fuel 98/e85 and different dyno produced a 60rwkw drop in power
Great looking zed and great results on the dyno.
A large part of the second result could just be the settings on the dyno dynamics dyno. They really should remove the 'Shoot out mode' feature as most tuners have no idea what it was put there for in the first place.
Latest update is I attended a local track day here in Tassie at Baskerville raceway, was fun to get out there on an actual track for the first time, but it was cut short due to overheating issues, am trying to tackle this by putting in a larger oil cooler and swapping radiators to one that will allow me to run factory shrouding around the fan, the twin intake fuel pump set up will hopefully be going in this coming week and see if it will break 400rwkw on E85 as that should fix the fuel pressure issue that stopped it going above 16psi boost.
What coolant ratio do you run?
I have used the green Nulon premix, which is 33% not sure what ratio the mechanic used originally
After having many over heating issue's in my skyline on the track, I was told to increase my ratio to 50%. Never had an over heating issue again. I run 50% in all my cars since then.
Running a higher ratio of coolant should increase temperatures as ethyl glycol absorbs heat poorly compared to water. Is it possible that something else was done in the process of changing coolant that improved efficiency?
Nope, only changed the ratio. Ethyl glycol increases the water boiling point doesnt it?
Yes and lowers freezing point.
Thermal conductivity on 40% as efficient as fresh water though https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/thermal-conductivity-liquids-d_1260.html -maybe if you measured the the temperature of the heads and block (rather than coolant) you’d see an increase in temp?
there may be a temp increase in the block, going on that 10% difference possibly? though its equaling zero water temp increase, and no boiling over/hoses bursting. Real world it works. cant explain why.
