I sit on my arse all day at work so I thought I would get Netflix. After finishing the current Star Trek Discovery series, I started the watch 'The Expanse'. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the fresh take on a Science Fiction set in space limited to us colonising the Solar System

In fact, I was hooked so much I watched all 13 episodes of Season 2 in a single day (shows how much I do at work lol) So tell me, have you watched it, what do you think or what are you watching?

    I'll play.

I've not seen The Expanse before, but I'm working my way through Vikings which is a historical drama and am currently watching season 4 part 2. It's thoroughly enjoyable in my opinion.

I do have a question though Shifter, what occupation do you have that you can smash a season (of anything) out in a day?
I might need to look into a career change ;)

Loved Discovery! The CGI in The Expanse was really quite special.

You might also like The Orville, kind of a comedy Star Trek spoof. Dark Matter was also quite good once it got going. Marvels Agents of Shield is also getting interesting.

Timeless if you like time travel, Continuum also not bad, finished a couple of years ago about a cop from the future.

Mostly SciFi which I watch a lot of :p

lol my type of thread..... have not watched the latest Star trek show, its on my must see list once I get NBN.... I am rewatching farscape at the moment, just before that was Lucifer, and am thinking about a rewatch of GOT. for me Vikings was amazing and season 5 is also on the must get list - with the NBN, it sucks being limited to 200Gig per month - 3 high school kids and the school has at least 50% of its work is internet based and all its homework is submitted by the internet, then there is 3 kids wanting to game online with friends (or play PS4) - we blow it in 3 weeks easy and thats being conservative.

The Expanse really is a great show, so much detail in the world and technology helps keep you immersed.

Other than that I've been catching up on the Marvel Movies since that's a popular thing to do at the moment and started watching Bojack for a second run. Bojack is pretty fun if you don't mind your comedy a little black and enjoy jokes on different levels.

    Altered Carbon on Netflix

These days I like to watch these Netflix series because 13 episodes (10 hours) has the potential for more character development and more complex storylines than a 100 minute movie.
(Sometimes it doesn't and I'll jump to something else without looking back)
A series with a couple of seasons listed is good. A new series that is a new episode each week can be risky because it might end suddenly.

Startrek Discovery had a tidy series ending.
    Altered Carbon wrapped up OK.
Travellers (a better version of the movie Stasis) is coming back for another season.

Some of thise Marvel series are not worth the time, Jessica Jones, Cage, Defenders etc.
But I thonk there was a Z32 in a scene of Jesdica Jones

PS, yes I would like a job that allows me to watch 13 episodes of a SciFi (and still be paid money)

Whoops, it was Frequency that had the Z32 (not Jessica Jones)

    Security LOL.

I confess I hated the Star Trek Discovery when it first came out. Klingons looked like plastic, were completely different to the Canon Star Trek and none of the main characters seemed likeable. However it grew on me and it was nice to see a Star Trek use cool CGI and space battles. I got the Orville from my brother and hope to see that one soon as well.

Thanks for the movie/TV show ideas. I'll look into them for sure. I watched the first 2 episodes of 'KillJoys', another space sci fi series. Not sure I like it though. If anyone has watched this can you tell me if it gets any better or are there plenty of others worth my time. I am thinking 'The Expanse' set a pretty high bar

I enjoyed Continuum and Dark Matter.

    Also enjoyed Orphan Black.

Non scifi stuff, enjoying Billions, Ballers (cause the Rock is awesome), The Last Ship (for something that you don't have to think about).

Also The League, Covert Affairs, Chuck, Mr Robot is kind of a bit different.

Light hearted Raising Hope was great, and Cougar Town.

Animated the typical Archer, and American Dad is fantastic from start to finish.

Killjoys is OK, but you have to watch all of it or you won't be happy with what happens half way through the series.

    Same goes for Expanse.

I watched all of Discovery, have to look past the stupid stuff which must mean they have a tight budget. eg. You wouldn't expect to see a planet full of humans and then be told that this is the Klingon home world??? Those rubber faces must be expensive?

After watching Discovery, go and find Guardians of the Galaxy part 2. (so that's where she ended up ;))

Dirk Gently detective agency (try to ignore the inconsistent character development, maybe they just need to say one of the characters is bipolar, so we can look past the bad acting) you'll spot some actors who seem to be plucked out of other shows, same costume, make up and still in character. This is another one that you have to watch the entire series.

PS. Do you (except for Toby :p) raise your hands to your face, peaking through fingers, holding your breath every time you spot a Z32 in a movie or TV show, as it might be destroyed in the next scene?

This is a hall mark of shows produced by netflix, makes me wonder whether they have a salaried actor crew or just a collection of people they have by the balls for cheap work.

Well I finally finished season 2 of Killjoys. Took me about 7-8 episodes to really get into it but was worth it. Altered Carbon now. It's hard trying to 'care' about characters whose bodies are not their own and who think they are immortal anyway. Hopefully the writers did a good job

Altered carbon ended up being really good. It's a shame I had to watch it on my phone. Would have looked awesome on my 4K TV.

Well I have also watched all of Black Mirror now. And all of Salvation, and now all of the new 'Lost in Space'. It was pretty cool that they used the actor who played 'Will Robison' in the 60s original to play the 'real' Dr Smith.

Getting bored at work again. Anyone else know of cool shows to binge available on Netflix?

Do you think my work would be ok with it? I think I'm pushing it with the Netflix as it is...
