Just double checking, My car has no smoke on idle nor when im moveing but if i give it stick my mate says he saw a gust of smoke come from the exhaust. Basically im just double checking with all you TT boys that when you give it stick does a little smoke come now and then or is it completely smoke free. When ive seen other zeds give it stick i saw they had smoke too on cruises. Ive neva personally seen smoke come from zed and when im driveing normally no smoke its only when you really stick it that a gust comes out?

I take it you have a TT - What color would you say it is? One exhaust or both sides (do you have balance pipe/x pipe)? Could be turbos on the way out if it's under acclelration right?

    1)White - Lean
    2)Blue - Oil
    3)Black - rich

Odds on its Black (if it were white and so noticable your engine would be dead by now) because its over fueling.
    Is boost wound up?
Doesnt really matter, 90% jap turbo cars have excessively rich on boost fuel maps anyway. The only thing to worry about is if its EXTREMELY rich, which may cause bore wash.

yeah, ild say its ok, but probably dont put off the tuning too long, if its too rich your rings might get destroyed.

Like others said, black is OK, just unburnt fuel. To minimise your fuel consumption, Just make sure things like your O2s are healthy etc.

My TT pumps unburnt fuel ou the exhaust when I put the boot in. Other than that, it's reasonably economical.

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Sounds Like Unburnt Fuel

Like others said, black is OK, just fuel. To minimise your fuel consumption, Just make sure things like your O2s are healthy etc.

My TT pumps unburnt fuel out the exhaust when I put the boot in. Other than that, it's reasonably economical and doesn't smoke at all. Also, you can't see this from the driver's seat, you need to be in a car behind.

    Cheers,

    Peter

that could be from fuel cut, and the momentary lean that occurs before timing goes out.
If its really really rich arent you worried about the thing bore washing itself to death? (or is it a case of drive it like you stole it :p )

    bore wash out

washing out the bore leading to a bad ring seal is a long term problem, the way i drive, i expect a short term component failure is far more likely, also it gets alot of light throttle cruising so i think it cuts the rings back no worries

Yeah, didnt really think that it could be an injector not closing properly!
that might be worth a go.

Well ive neva had a mate behind me to tell me if i was shooting a gust of smoke or not before i had the bov installed, Ive seen the gust of black smoke come from a lot of other Z's when they give it stick and some dont have Bov's so i dont think its that. It happens to me very rarely. I got steel wool in 1 exhaust that i havent gotten out yet and it restricts the airflow as i can feel it in comparison to the other one which i think is a bit of a problem but its such a **** of a thing to try pull out :bash:

Running rich is better than lean put it that way...

You can feel the difference between one side of the exhaust and the other? Wow you must have super powers! lol I wont even ask how the steel wool got there in the first place :p
