    Hey guys,
    My bro and I have been hammering SC2 pretty heavily lately and have become truly addicted, have heard alot of bad rap about the game, dont understand why? Smashed campaign the other week along with a tonne of achievements and hitting up multiplayer now, winning more then Im losing.

    Maining Protoss and have a pretty decent builder order at the moment.

    How many other forum members have the game? play it online? share your thoughts and opinions on the game, and perhaps even throw down your Real IDs so we can add each other if youre up for some games.

    Regards,
    Leon.

    Believe it or not, the game itself is not that thirsty, even on high/ultra settings my computer laughs at it, cant remember what the exact requirements are? what sort of computer are you running?

    yeah im playing a bit at the moment, bringing back the memories. Its good fun. Campaign is very story based and creative, especialy for a RTS
    I have a spare trial key if anyone wants to try out the game.

    I have it and absolutely love it!...I haven't bothered to check any reviews but I do not understand why it would get a bad rap....every part of it from its graphics, gameplay, story, cut scenes, menu system, interactive in game campaign menus, multiplayer community interaction, etc is awesome.

    There were two things that initially disappointed me:

    1. There's only a Terran campaign unlike the original game that had a separate campaign for each of the 3 species...but then I learned they are releasing expansions for the other two specie campaigns...yeah its prob a bit of a money grab but they haven't actually finished them yet so rather than release it with unfinished missions they are doing it properly and really polishing it. The Terran campaign by itself has 29 missions making it already a pretty big game, with many many extra features that really increase the campaign length such as fully rendered cut scenes with an involved story tied right into the original game's one, you can go into different areas before starting missions to look at articles and news reports that further expand on the story and add detail and depth, you can customise your units and buildings to an extent by buying upgrades earned by achievements unlocked in the missions and theres a research area as well (haven't even got into that part yet in the game :p)...so it's a hell lot more interactive than the original where you just went straigh onto each mission.

    It's even got a game within the game, when your on the Hyperion Class Battleship at a stage in the story, you can go to the Cantina and there's an arcade game in there called 'Lost Viking' thats really well done as well, just a good old top down view of a space ship (in this one it's the Viking Air / Ground defense unit normally produced from the Starport) that you can move around and just shoot anything that comes into the screen, you get pickups to powerup your weapons and the good old "Big Boss" at the end of each level :D

    2. Not all the units in singleplayer are in multiplayer such as the firebat and medic....most of them are but some are left out and is disapointing, I can only think it was done to balance out all the species. It could actually be that the extra units in SP are only added to enhance the story and expand on the objectives but I wish some were in MP.

    Otherwise it's a brilliant game...and so it should be after taking 4 years to make, but Blizzard do make sure they do it right the first time unlike Rebellion's recent AVP game that basically died within 3-4 weeks of release due to bugs and very lacking support (its support has been completely dropped from consoles now).

    Here's a cool campaign overview video that shows of some of the cutscenes and some awesome gameplay footage...

    Craig

    I've been waiting for it for 12 years...

    They've done a great job at everything, the storyline is nice and interesting, the CG cinematics are brilliant as always from blizzard.

    The campaign is great, a little short but only if you walk through it on normal mode. There are also challenges to do after you finish it.

    Multiplayer is heavily dependent on BNET 2.0, so if you regularly have internet hiccups you'll find multiplayer to be clunky as hell. Balance between the races is pretty damned balanced IMHO, if you're at a similar skill level to your opponent it'll be a damned intense fight.

    Unfortunately I don't think it's as dark as SC1, so I don't think it carries the same feeling as the first. Pitch black fog of war and less comical units would have been a start.

    Nevertheless it's a great package all together, the campaign kept me entertained for about a week and I've just started ladder games again so I'm happy :D

    Anyone here on BNET?

    See my PS in my above post Airstyle regarding BNET ;)

    Also I agree totally with what you are saying about the dark feel, in fact the original was quite creepy at times.

    Cheers,

    Not even mate, dont think anything is on Crysis' level as far as demanding hardware is concerned.

    PC Minimum System Requirements :
    * Windows XP/Vista/7 with DirectX? 9.0c
    * 2.6 GHz Pentium? IV or equivalent AMD Athlon? processor
    * 128 MB PCIe GeForce 6600 GT or ATI Radeon 9800 PRO or better
    * 12 GB available HD space
    * 1 GB RAM (1.5 GB required for Windows Vista/7 users)
    * DVD-ROM drive
    * Broadband Internet connection
    * 1024X720 minimum display resolution

    PC Recommended Specifications:

    * Windows Vista/7
    * Dual Core 2.4Ghz Processor
    * 2 GB RAM
    * 512 MB GeForce 8800 GTX or ATI Radeon? HD 3870 or better

    1 : Like you said, the campaign is already such a massive experience, I think they wanted to try and stress players to experience MP after the SP experience was "over", as opposed to feeding more campaigns right off the bat and then have no more cards up their sleeve. They announced that the 2 further games would be classed as "expansions" so its very unlikely that they would charge full price for a further extension of the game.

    2 : Everyone has been playing the same units for like, 14 years, would expect them to mix up the MP a little bit by removing/adding some new units...even single player has some unique units not available in MP, again, changing up the experience. Its like they removed the Dragoon for the Protoss, but added the Stalker/Immortal, which to me have so many different strats then what the Drags ever did...

    Yes I did the whole midnight launch thing at EBGames and even won a free Poster (Big Whoop) and so far I've only been playing the campaign missions just for the story and achievement collection, as i had been playing the Beta version for about a 2 months before beta was closed a week before release.
    I can say one thing about Starcraft 2 is Brutel difficultly is very hard and i can differently spend up to 2 hours on one mission and then i would replay and acquire any achievements i didn't get first play through. Unfortunately my playing time is very sparce atm:mad: as Im working like crazy atm but if i dont work my girlfriend would kill me. lol

    The multilayer is very good, from what i experienced on beta. The matchmaking system is really cool and the whole balancing of the races is a lot better then SC1 for me as I love Thor's and most of the knew Terran units. Go Terran

    My nick is night_wolveX but it will be a few months before i get onto Bnet.

    I've been wanting to buy it but havent mostly because i dont get much gaming time so spending $80 on a game il barely get to play isnt on top of my list of priorities, but the good reviews in this thread have convinced me, will buy tomorrow (unless theres somewhere real cheap to buy online and dl tonight?) lol, anyone know the cheapest place to get it atm?
    Another reason i was putting it off is because im crap at rts and dont really wanna be a noob, i enjoyed sc1 but always got pwned, is this gonna be the case in sc2? lol.

    Word of the wise: get MSI Afterburner or Rivatuner to set your graphics cards fans to MAX!

    A few people have had their gfx cards fried from playing SC2.

    My computer laughs at Crysis

    1920x1080, max setting on everything and all is smooth. YEAH!

    I saw a little while ago a sneak preview of starcraft 2 on youtube. It really didn't look that much difference to starcraft 1...... considering how long the wait has been I was hoping for more. This was just a 5 minute youtube thing so don't listen to me too hard!

    I've finished the campaign now too :D I have to say when I learned they were splitting it I cancelled my pre order for the collectors edition the next day thinking it was all just a big cash cow for blizzard.
    Really wish I hadn't now. Haven't started playing ranked MP yet, getting my terran and zerg build orders down pat.

    If anyone wants to have a bit of fun or needs a hand getting your build orders going give me a yell. BNET id of will<underscore>moore@iinet.net.au I'm on most nights.
