Thats calendar material! Hands down.
Yeah I didn't think of the Calendar, still hoping to find someone with a more iconic Bathurst pic from the weekend.
Might have to submit it for the April pic
Finally finished editing some video from Bathurst.
Following is my fastest 5 laps from Race 3, including a new PB :br:
looks awesome mate! Congrats on the podium finish
Looking great Shane. Some bigger injectors and some more boost and you'll fly down conrod.
Looks like there might be a bit left in the driver too? It's good to be conservative at Bathurst in a "new" car.:zlove:
haha, yes a fair bit left in the driver, especially over the top
Goal of the weekend was to finish, and in a new car that really wasn't ready, I didn't want to push it too hard. Was very happy with a 2:37 though, shows the potential of the car.
Next year will be a cracker! :br:
Great video, really informative and the 2:37 time is pretty good in the circumstances. One thing I really related to was the kink approach, for a newbie it takes a lot of determination not to back off there and go through through flat, I'm thinking 240 kph for you which is pretty conservative, it's hard to tell how far to the floor the go pedal was.
At 220-230 I was able to go through flat, think I did a few times. The problem was the ecu rev cut at 215 well before the hump, and I was then on/off the throttle trying to keep the speed up and stay off the rev cut for the rest of the way down Conrod. So no I was no where near flat to the floor.
Next year I expect to hit 250-260 down Conrod. I doubt I'll be able to go through flat at those speeds as I don't have the aero. The GT cars have a tonne more aero that's why they're so fast across the top. So I expect I'll be doing a lift to set the turn then back on full throttle to my braking point.
Not having the revs was bloody frustrating TBH :bash::bash:
But being back racing and being back at Bathurst made up for it :br:
Oh yeh, I forgot about that rev cut problem. As for top speeds I had aero problems but they should be fixed for November, I do have a wing available but will just use a rear bum spoiler with more serious stuff up front. Theoretical top speed is 260+ which I think is possible to hold through the Kink, if, if the line is right.
Bathurst is in a league of it's own, it's challenges are unique so it's a ball to drive there. When is your next run there?
Big balls taking the Chase flat at 260+ with no lift on entry
Bathurst for me is Easter ever year. I'm hoping to do one more round this year at SMP, and maybe depending on available budget head down to PI in November.
Focus now though is on development for next year :br:
It's a challenge I've set myself, weather it happens is another question
Good luck for the rest of the year, great to see someone having a real go in a Z32.
Great result - just to finish unscathed with the issues you had and to say you've actually stood on the podium to receive a placing and trophy is awesome! :br:
Proud father & son moment indeed. :zlove:
Really enjoyed the video being able to see the combination of in-car, front view, rear view and speedo - gave a great feel for the joy and challenges of that track.
Looking forward to next year's thread!
Thanks, me too :br:
