hi everyone im new here and just bought the 300zx in my profile pic silly as ive havnt seen it yet and the owner has limited info about it. it is his fathers car before they moved to the coast but i had to get it its in my home town and its is reasonably cheap i think at $1200 i dont know but i dont have to travel or get it transported so i jumped on it. so it been sitting for 10+ years in a wharehouse so he was unsure on the model year transmission and kms but it is a twin turbo model which he said was running fine before put in storage it was all painted execpt under the bonnet but it didnt turn out the greatest so some spots have been rubbed back and they didnt get around to repaint so car hasnt been put back together and has been sitting since no front and rear bumper they were goin aftermarket but didnt get to it i dont no if i want stock bumpers or some nice not over the top aftermarket ones but he said most everything else should be there so i have abit of a jigsaw to do once i pick it up my plans for the old girl is first to prep the motor to see if it runs ok cheak for rust and im not a big fan of the motor so if it runs fine i will probably pull it sell the engine to help to start funding to do a ls1 swap using loj conversion kit thats all for now guys and girls i hope i didnt go on to much

Don't believe anything you hear about these cars unless it's from a Z32 owner!
The seats don't go further back.

and has 100,000 kms on the clock
    Don't believe this either!

Welcome to Hell, Ben :) Don't stress about your new toy being an auto.
They are capable of beating manuals up to 100 mph - why yes, that's 160 kph -
for a standard driver because they shift quick and keep the turbos spooled up.
    >CUE ARGUMENT< and just remember that autos own the dragstrip :D

Get the thing running before you start thinking about a manual conversion.
Don't make the mistake of pulling it completely to bits to fix every little thing at the same time,
and you should ignore the cosmetics for now. It might be a dud project if the engine is no good.
Start with the engine and get it driveable. Get a taste of driving the car ASAP.
Then move on to the other bits :)

Is it a 2+2, look for fuel filler flap.
Infront of wheel is 2.0, behind is 2+2.

The front seats may recline further back on a 2+2, but only because there isn't a person sitting in the back seat.

If you are doing an engine conversion or keeping the 3.0 turbo, you could still consider getting the SAW kit, before the last one is sold. Is is still being offered on this forum?

Front bar, the OEM Nissan 1999-2000 spec (new) is frequently offered for around $550 by some guy on this forum.

Thanks for your replies yeh i think i will be leaving it an auto doesn't worry me to much i will be doing a v8 swap one day but like you said will get it running and driving first as it is but before i can even try that i notice it has no fuel pump assembly so need that and ive never had a turbo car before what sort of prep will the turbos need before i try to start the car

The whole assembly or just the pump? Hopefully not the hanger assembly as they are discontinued and getting hard to find... Pump is easy to replace.

There isn’t really anything specific you need to do. I would change the oil & filters (air, oil, water) if it hasn’t been started in a while. Maybe even an auto service (or new fluid at the least). Definitely drain and if possible power flush the cooling system.

Welcome! You've have tapped into some very knowledgeable people here so you're off to a good start!

I have just begun doing the same thing as you, resurrecting a 1990TT that was sitting for 17 years.

Rob's right on getting new hangers - they're scarce. I sourced a hanger and fuel pump pretty easily when I bought a whole fuel tank from a wrecker ($250 the lot including the lines right up to the engine bay and the filler tube). Mine needed everything so check the condition of the insides of your tank incase you need to replace more than a hanger/pump assembly.
(If you suspect crap in the tank or lines, of course pump straight out into a bucket to flush the lines. I'm sure you can work that one out!)
    Cheers - have fun.
