My 12 week weightloss challenge

    ok, so at goodlife gyms, once a year they hold a '12 week challenge' where you try and improve your body from what it is now. you could be thinner than a rake but want to tone up, or you could be fat like me and want to lose some weight in preparation for some toning up.

    anyway i signed up for this challenge ($240 i think) and every week at your local gym you are taught how to eat correctly, how much, when to eat, how to train, when to train, how to do it properly etc

    almost three years ago i was a fit 82kgms with some decent muscle (nothing major). since then i changed jobs from moving all day to sitting all day, i got very lazy and didnt exercise and i started eating what i wanted, whenever i wanted.

    over this time i gain alot of unwanted fat and reached 140kgms, not the proudest thing i want to admit but yeah. for about 6 months i have been going to the gym (not religiously) and managed to lose around 20kgms but then put some back on to settle at 128kgms. so now its time to get serious.

    this year's challenge started on the 28/02/2009.

    i decided to do this challenge to not only get fit like i used to be, but lower my risk of getting diabetes which is very high atm as it runs in my family (dad's side). im not going to cheat and go on some lemon detox diet crap because when i stop, ill most probably put that weight back on. im going to eat the right things so i can keep the weight off and ill do it in stages rather than all at once.

    on Saturday the 28th i went in to be measured (body fat content, circumference, weight, blood pressure etc)

    i weighed in at 126.5.

    a week has past and after eating correctly, the right amounts and types and exercising every day bar 1, i have dropped to 123kgms.

    ill be weighing myself every saturday and will keep this thread updated as to how my progress is going. by the end of the twelve weeks i want to be below 110kgms and i want my heart rate to be alot better than it is now.

    for those interested, this is my exercise routine.

    Monday:
    fight class at the gym - 1hr

    Tuesday:
    personal training session (boxing cardio) - 30mins

    Wednesday:
    cycling class - 1hr

    Thursday:
    personal training session (cardio weighs...this kills me so badly and im only at lv1 lol) - 30 mins

    Friday:
    rest day

    Saturday:
    cross trainer in aerobics mode - how ever long it takes to burn 750 calories (usually 1hr)

    Sunday:
    cross trainer in aerobics mode - how ever long it takes to burn 750 calories (usually 1hr)

    I would be the greatest inspirational speaker there ever is. You wanna know the secret to loosing weight? Its not some pill. Its not some exercise machine. I should host a conference and walk in to give a way the secret to loose weight....

    First step is realising where the problem lies. For some its diet, for some its exercise.

    My problem is diet - i'm good during the week but blowout on the weekends. I also need to sleep more so i don't feel so tired i can't be bothered exercising.

    Routine isn't the key, good habit is.

    Routine only makes your body adjust and before you know it, the same thing over and over again has a diminishing effect.

    good habit and good discipline will save you. The same routine each week will bore your body, but being in the habit of doing something each week where you mix it up will keep your body guessing and make it work harder.

    They say the human body needs 21 days to break a bad habit. so if you can keep your diet good for minimum 21 days and keep the exercise up, it should get easier.

    All the best mate!!! I reckon you'll be down near the 80's in no time

    $240? coulda just asked me for all the info on eating properly, best routines to shred fat, would've told you for free ;)

    i used to spend 30 mins max 3 times a week in the gym, with 2 days down at the footy oval for 20 mins, now i dont do any fat burning shit just cruising along happily with a 4 pack and a bit of fat around my lower tummy, gaining size on my arms and chest until i hit where i wanna be, then i'll spend a month shredding the last bit of fat to get a 6 pack..

    this is really the only photo i have of the old me.. and ofcourse my biggest try hard pic to match it up with.. but it show's i know what im talking about, if you want tips add me on msn

    not just what to eat trav, but heaps of other stuff too. the thing is, if i didnt join up, i wouldnt have the motivation to do it. this is a good kick start for me and after this i should be able to carry on by myself :)

    the motivation should be in your head! yes theres alot more to it than nutrition but i have a very good website that will have you shredded in 12-16 weeks depending how big you are

    I'm in your boat Erik but I'm only 105. The ladies have quietened off a fair bit so I need to get back into action. Used to be fit with labour jobs, driving trucks and sporting activities. Could get away with eating what ever I felt like. Then I get an office job, didn't change my habits and now it's depressing how unfit I am.
    The hard part is having to change your life style and get into a new routine.

    I want to get ABSOLUTELY RIPPED IN JUST 90 DAYS!!! :cool: :D

    MODERATION MY FRIEND MODERATION AND EXERCISE THE RIGHT FOOD KEEP OFF THE GROG ........... PLENTY OF WATER , NO MORE THAN 3 LITRES A DAY , YOU DONT WANT TO FLUSH ALL YOUR ELECTROLITES OUT ......
