    Hi gents,

I have made the decision to sell a dream car of mine which I never believed I would move on from, however another dream car is calling again & that machine is the Z. So I am putting my 1988 widebody Mitsubishi Starion on the market which I have proudly owned since March 2016. As you may be aware, there were only ~840 or so of these widebody cars made for the Japan market & as of today there is roughly 40 or less that currently reside in Australia, so it is quite a rare & special car. Unlike the Australian delivered Starion's, the GSR-VR model were equipped with the "big block" inter-cooled 2.6 G54B turbocharged engine, beautiful big box flares, 5-stud hubs, digital climate control & a myriad of other features & upgrades that made them the epitome of what an 80's car should be & what Australia missed out on.

I am the 3rd Australian owner since it's importation in 2007. Sunshine Coast QLD was where it resided for ~9 years with the previous owner (a mechanic by trade) after he bought it from an importer/Starion enthusiast in NSW, where it was driven back to QLD & lived for almost a decade, until I came along & snatched it up before it even had a chance to be advertised & drove it down to it's new home in VIC. So it's definitely no stranger to big trips interstate & getting from a to b reliably & comfortably.

From 2016 onward I used the car as a daily driver for the better part of 12 months then taking it off the road to be able to give it some attention, including preventive maintenance & upgrades. Over that time I have slowly gone over the car restoring what I can (blasting & powder coating parts, replacing every visible nut & bolt etc.) basically just cleaning & replacing any 30 year old part whether mechanical or structural to bring it up to my own high standard. Only using OEM Mitsubishi parts where available, otherwise high quality aftermarket parts were used in place of them, the same goes for any power upgrades. The car has come a long way in terms of condition & tasteful modifications since purchasing it, it was in need of some loving at the time so love, sweat & tears is what it has received! I have plenty of before & after photos on hand as well to show it's mini-makeover. Having said that, as with any car of this age it does have it's imperfections & flaws as well, but nothing that can't be fixed. I am happy to supply any genuinely interested buyers with detailed photos & any questions you may have.

The car is currently fully registered & the personalized "GSRVR" plates will be included in the sale for any Victorian buyers or with the option to be sold without if not wanted (final price will reflect this) otherwise it will be sold with standard issue plates, that goes for any interstate buyers as well.

Unfortunately due to my work schedule a RWC will not be included in the sale, however since it's last semi-recent roadworthy in 2016 the car is in even better shape than before, so I have no doubt that it will pass again with flying colours.

Now days you will struggle to find a widebody Starion for less than $20,000 complied & landed from Japan, similar scenario to the Z. Based on what I feel is a fair price for my example I am asking $17,000 (or $16,500 without plates) with current registration & a lot of the hard work done already. This will also include any & all of the original parts which I have removed or replaced to revert back & also any spares which I haven't yet fitted either. Alternatively, I am open to trades for a Z of equal or similar value as well, as that is my end goal. However, it must be a TT, manual transmission, preferably '94 & up, no wild body kits & a 2+0 but that isn't essential. The closer to stock the better!

Anyway, please don't hesitate to PM with genuine inquiries of interest. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have & supply the full mods/maintenance list. More photos to follow.

Please note, the car will be available in 5 weeks from now as I need to get around to having the new exhaust system fitted, cheers.

Funny enough the 3 that are currently on there each have their own story, 1 has been on there for almost a decade, another was bought cheaply at an auction then advertised shortly after with a huge price markup & lastly the only widebody car on there which was just recently imported, is the rarest of them all (2.0 engine) which naturally commands good money. So I think mine could be considered a bargain in comparison!

I think your right and no offence intended i think you have the value better gauged. for me its hard to argue the starion is worth gtr and rx7 money just because its rare. To me any decent Jap turbo car from the eighties in good nick has got to be cheap if under 25k compared to a new front wheel drive hot hatch. Hope you find a 300 you like and don't miss the starion too much.
