Ok so we all drive a 300zx, but what the hell does the 'zx' stand for????????? I suppose the 300 means its a 3 litre. Foolish question but anyway...... Im sick at home and my car is getting sprayed so I am almost delirious so cut me some slack.
It serves to remind you of all the zex you should be getting by driving such a hot looking car. If you're not getting it then you're doing something wrong.
Wiki said it so it must be true ZX From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search ZX could refer to: Air Georgian IATA code The Citroën ZX, a car Kamen Rider ZX, a fictional character Mega Man ZX, a video game for the Nintendo DS ZX Tunes, Remastered soundtracks of the game The ZX Spectrum, a Sinclair computer
I cant exactly remember, but I thought it was a Z because its the last letter in the alphabet, so the Z was the final word when it came to sports cars. And the X just represented the luxury version of the Z. But I could just be speaking out my ass here
Found an answer for the Z part http://www.aus300zx.com/tech/faq/fairlady.htm in our very own tech section!
Z because its the ultimmate, the final word (z is the last letter in the alphabet) The X stands for "extra"
there was a post on here a few months ago from what i remember and everyone was talking about what all the letters mean after the cars name eg; the gtr, wrx, zx, sx and so on.....i think it was our forum anyone....cant remember
Come on! Theres gotta be a proper explanation........ Im sure when they called it a 300 ZX they didnt just think that they were realy cool letters......
lol serious? hahahahahahah they came out with 180km/h or 240km/h for auz spec dude.... ever noticed it has a 3.00L engine in it?????
i had posted up the exact same question a while ago but asking about 180sx etc etc too. i will have a search and see if i can find it for ya
"That idea having been turned down in Japan, he was willing to accept "Datsun 240-Z". The 240 was a shortened version of the 2400cc engine displacement, and the "Z", which had been the new car's product file designation within Nissan's Design Department. Mr. Teiichi Hara, General Manager of Design Department No. 2, had given the original sports car plans the file designation "Type Z", as most all of the other characters in the roman alphabet had been previously used. (I suppose that the roman alphabet is used in Japan for alphabetic filing systems ie. alphabetical order.)" and X cause it has that X factor theres cool Jap band called X i think all the driver in the Getaway to Stockholme was Mr X and was Japanese? X type.. mystery surounds it.. the unknown.. i have nfi It just sounds better than just Z .. ZX!!! plus it was a new generation of ZED's. Developed whilest us youngens were known as the X generation ourselves...
Some discussion earlier that the X represents the plant in Japan where the zeds were manufactured. Look at the plate under the bonnet and you will see the X.
the zed was what it was filed under, this was back in the days when they did there own filing, and when they typed up the name for the file, the keyboard operator just maed a spelling mistake and hit both keys, as they are next to each other, and then they kept up the charade for a little while to make it not seem like a mistake, then when they could get computers sometime after the designing of the 300zx Z32, they could then use backspace so decided to revert back to just Z for the new Z33s, that was the best shit i could spin off the top of my head
