Progress is slowly moving along as I had a few diversions in the past few weeks. First up was a frustrating problem with the right rear of the car sagging down. Its a problem Ive been chasing for years and not been able to pin point it but I think I have it now.

Chassis has been on the aligner and is ok. Ive done a subframe swap and it still sagged. I pulled the springs off the shock absorbers and placed cut tubing over the piston shaft for the weight of the car to sit on and still the corner of the car sat down.

So I have eliminated the chassis, subrame and springs so now Im thinking that either the hub is bent or the bushing on the hub for the shock absorber is worn out.

I have adjusted the lengths of the cut tubing on the shocky to make the car sit flat again as a temporary measure.

You can imagine how frustrating it has been, taking measurements of the body kit and having to adjust for the sag.

The other interruption has been pulling the motor and shipping it off as another member has purchased my engine and all the bits for a TT conversion.

And of course the obligatory engine bay shot.

Now I can start shopping for LS engine parts :D

Most of the work recently has been on the front bar. Ive spit the bar into 2 pieces to make the molding easier and to have the option of the infill been carbon fiber. Im reasonably happy with it so far i just need to change the angle of the infill as its looking a little to linear atm. But as a whole the car is taking shape really well and im getting exited to have the thing finished.

    Anyway less text more pix.

That looks MEAN. I cant wait to see a rear bar for this bad boy, but please leave the backs of the tyres showing :D

It looks a bit like the TwinZ design, maybe you could have got one of those as a baseline instead of starting from scratch? But the whole thing is looking awesome!

Thanks for the positive comments guys. :zlove:

I wish I could but Im gonna have enough trouble with the police without having partial tyres exposed. I know the law is that the tyres have to be under the guards, which they will be but I can see it being a problem. Id love to do something like the rocket bunny kit for the ft86 but I may have to keep that for the "track car" :p

A fellow member said the same untill we put his twinz next to mine. 2 very different shapes to the bar. I would have been alot easier to start with another bar and hack it up but who wants to pay the big $$$ for a twinz bar just so they can cut it up

    Looking good as always.
That's a BIG mouth on the front end.
I like the shapes you are going for, BUT...
The front bumper lip has the inherent problem of becoming a grader blade on any driveway's.
Although both our cars are standard ride height, my car has the AB Flug bar, and the flat extension on the bottom of the bar is a problem.
The further away from the centre of the front wheels the flatter the driveway has to be.

Keep the length of nose, but bring the bottom "splitter" back towards the wheels.
    Only a suggestion.

Completely off topic but gmbrezzo your bar is actually by Evolution, not ab flug. It's from their 'explosion' bodykit series.

Looking forward to an update ztoy, keen to see how this front is developing.

I dont think hes keeping the lip guys. It was meant to be there for measurements and a flat surface. Thats not to say i agree with removing it and it shouldnt be a lip, because it should be.

Thanks. I always thought it was a flug. nice to know. At least mines is not a VS. :D
I escape the wrath of the forum

Ztoy what is your opinion on the extended lip on the front of your car re grader action on the roads from going out driveways?

As jordsz had protested the lip has been removed as can be badly seen in the following pic. As my car sits (not as in the pic) the lip sits 120mm from the ground and (when I had an engine) I could get up and down my driveway which is one of the nasty 45deg concrete jobbys.

That aside it will still pose a problem with concrete parking stoppers and some driveways. Thats why im going to install a camera on the front hidden behind the number plate so I can see if im going to hit anything.

Plenty of work had been done but im not ready for pics yet. Door infills have been remade and the skirts reshaped to suit. A rough design has been sketched for the rear bar and work has started on it. Bumper has been shortened 2 inches and just today I bolted a sheet of MDF with gridlines to it to start on the diffuser.

Apart from that, I stupidly bought a dogbox for it LOL.

Ill try get some better pictures soon, this pic doesnt show the black insert very well. Its all smooth and has no sharp edges any more.

Its been hard to get to the car the past 2 weekends as Ive had both family's stay with us. (stoopid family) !!!! :p

Another quick update. Kit is still slowly progressing. Most of the work has been on the rear of the car. The rear diffuser went through mockups before I finished on this one. Number plate needs to come up 20 mm to be more centered. Hopefully I will have some full car photos soon.

After a week of arguing with my original engineer, other engineers and QLD transport. Its looking like it may not get completed. The engineer that pre approved the modifications was dodgy and this cant be legaly MOD plated.

The increase in track width is greater than what is allowed by NCOP. They will not take it on under a special modification, even if it can be proved that the bump steer and scrub radius and road handling have not been detrimentally modified from standard.

Final nail in the coffin was speaking to the head of vehicle modification standards at QLD transport. Nice bloke, had a good long chat but after it all he said, It can be mod plated by and engineer but if it ever ends up being inspected by QLD transport they will not be allowed to let it pass.

I then called the original engineer up and told him who I had talked to. He did a complete backflip and said that it that's the rules then that's the rules. Thanks heaps FKHEAD!!!!!!

It's a big kick in the guts.

I'm absolutely gutted at the moment

What?!? That is devastating, all that hard work for nothing, love following this thread. Could you try and get it registered as a kit car or anything? Not sure how it all works.

well this all sucks badly. how much wider than the allowed limit is the track width?

would it be possible to run standard wheels on it (just to get it back over the pits etc) and then run your wider wheels post licensing?

it must be possible because there are wide bodied cars out there on the road.....maybe they arent legal though....

hope you can sort it mate, what be a shame to see a nice build like this fall over due to legal complications.
