Hi All, I have decided that I wont be starting a build thread for my car through I felt that this information may be useful for anyone thinking of purchasing the Z Shop Side Mirror Covers. The covers fit, but depending what look you are going for, may require a fair amount of work. I went the full hog and had the covers moulded into the mirrors completely to make them look factory...which they do after some great work by a mate who is a panel beater. I will let the pictures do the talking. I used sikaflex to fix the covers to the mirror but made sure that I left plenty of gap between the lip of the mirror and cover so I could fill this in with some some hard setting glue (that blue coloured fancy stuff panel beaters use). This was to ensure that there would be no flexing. With the mirror being a wind catcher there would no doubt be small amounts of flexing when driving at 100k+ which would result in the paint cracking. Here is how the covers fitted at first, with the lip sanded ready for the glue. Then came time to prep and to glue in between the cover and the mirror lip: Once dry, the glue was sanded and smoothed ready for primer and paint: How they look now (I will get a photo from the other side tonight): Overall about 3-4 hours of prep. The actually quality of the cover is fantastic, nice and smooth, no rough edges at all. Only required a slight sand before the primer was applied. Overall a good quality product and if you have the time and ability, or know someone like I do, then I think this mod really adds something to the zed...and you can also shave your side indicator as I did, see below:
Looks great. I wondered how you got the mirrors with the indicators. Do they still turn in (motorised)?
Yep fully motorised. These are stock side mirrors and the covers to do interfer with the automation. This is why I went this way, so could fold the mirrors in
