AUS Zedfest #8 Armidale - 30 March to 1 April - planned activities

    Less than 2 weeks out, things are getting real!

    Loose schedule is as follows:

    Friday 30 March - AM -

    Brisbaneites: Meeting 7:30AM Jimboomba BP (off Mount Lindsay Highway), heading to Warwick to collect Benny/Bec, then heading South to Armidale.

    Sydneysiders, if anyone has organised a convoy with meet places etc, let me know and I will update this post!!! Or post here...

    Mexicans, same for any of you attending. Post here.

    Friday 30 March - PM -

    Everyone arrives at the Armidale Motel and checks in.
    Meet and greet/well deserved drinks after a long drive
    BBQ dinner - $5per person, meat, bread, salads etc etc

    Saturday 31 March - AM -

    Cruise - mix of gentle cruise and some nice twisties. Stopping for group photos
    Full tank of petrol required, money for lunch etc (or pack your own if you are that prepared)
    Bring your 2way if you have them to help in not losing anyone!
    Maps etc provided on the day.

    Saturday 31 March - PM -

    Return from cruise early/mid afternoon
    Some take the opportunity to wash/detail in prep for the show and shine (I believe there are 2 car wash places in Armidale)
    Some (Benny C) do a quick once over so as to not cut into drinking time
    I plan on having some scotch and cigars, so if you are that way inclined, bring something ;)
    Dinner is largely fend for yourself, however there will be a pizza order going in, so have cash ready! This worked well last zedfest, as everyone could stay around and be social, without having to go anywhere.

    Sunday 1 April - AM -

    Show and Shine, in town, parking at the Armidale Visitor Centre' carpark. Now this is still a public carpark, but they have allowed us to use it for display purposes. Hopefully someone didn't drink too much/stay up too late and can get down there early and rope off a section so we can all be together.
    The local farmers market and car boot swap meet is on at the same time next door, so expect some foot traffic. As usual, best public behaviour please and thanks.
    Judges of categories to be decided.

    Sunday 1 April - PM -

    Presentation dinner! Location not quite confirmed (probable at the Motel, possible at one of the pubs in town)
    Categories are:

    Best Exterior
    Best Interior
    Best Engine Bay
    Angrybear Memorial Award
    Lowrider Award
    As Nissan Intended
    In Car Entertainment
    Hard Luck Award
    Longest Drive
    People's Choice
    Hotelier's Choice

    Arrive home, start posting threads and pictures of the awesome time you had, and rub it in the faces of those who didn't go!

    If anyone is reading this and wants to come, it isn't too late! The Motel still have a couple of rooms held for late comers!

    Awesome work Mikey! You've put a lot of behind the scenes work into this and it's going to be yet another awesome and memorable Zedfest! :)

    Also, just to add one thing. UHF's are HIGHLY recommended, particularly for the Saturday cruiZe that we are doing! If you don't have one, go out and buy a cheap hand held "bok-choi" UHF just for Zedfest if you can, as it's easy for people to get separated during the course of the cruise. We always use channel 10 when cruizing and can advise of any road changes, traffic problems, po-po attention, stragglers to catch up, emergencies, etc... It's also equally as handy if you are joining a convoy for the trip to and from Zedfest from your respective locations, as not everybody has everyone elses phone numbers. :)

    Have you confirmed all of the venues/locations, yet? ;)

    • Friday's Welcome BBQ location,
    • Saturday's Cruise lunch spot, and the;
    • Sunday's Prez dinner

    (FYI... I really miss the ":zlove:" emoticon, lol! :))

    Hi, not sure what Mike has planned for the other two but I’ve done the cruise route etc -it’ll be an all day trip with spots for photos, lunch, and an afternoon coffee. Full details will be distributed at the event.

    I like a bit of mystery ;)

    All you need to know is that the BBQ is $5 per head at the Motel, the cruise is long, and the prez dinner has cold beer and trophies ;)

    Seriously tho, the dinner will be at the New England Hotel, about 3km from the accommodation.

    Regular bistro menu applies.
