OK after all the replies in the other thread I'm wondering if there is enough genuine interest to do a group buy on the Z1 60mm throttle bodies? Here's a link to the product info http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_7&products_id=1911.

    Benefits include
    • 35% more cross-sectional area than the than stock units.
    • 58mm diameter butterfly vs 50mm diameter stock butterfly
    • Improved throttle response
    • Dyno tests show power gains throughout the power band, gains increase with power output.
    • Direct bolt on application (simply grind out inside of upper intake plenum to match larger opening)
    • Great fitment with standard 2.5" I.D. coupler or hoses
    • Pressure tested to 40 psi

Gaskets are included in the kit and appropriate silicone coupling or hard pipes are available. I can also offer 60mm border intake piping kits for those after a complete 60mm inlet track but this is really only for those pushing big power

Price: $395USD/set for five or more sets
Freight: Shared costs to get them to AUS, then roughly $15/set to redistribute

So what kind of interest is there? I want a pair ASAP so as I can finish my motor...

ill be the first to put my hand up

its still a bit expensive compared to the offer pzp had though, no chance of getting better pricing for say 10 or more sets?

im 100% in either way though.....:D

and the links not working for me by the way...??

what kind of power would you have to be pushing before these even make a difference?

That is the $395USD question.... UAS slot car uses standard throttle bodies and makes around 43something rwkw on the current motor. But it would probably make more with a bigger inlet system.... With my new motor with bigger valves, cams, and turbos I am 100% convinced that going to a complete (so including the border kit) 60mm piping system will make a difference.

There is an argument for improved throttle response on any car but I don't know how this would be measured.

I think you're money is better spent on upgrading turbos and improving airflow through the head (so valves and cams). If you already have these upgrades or if you're chasing throttle response then these may make a difference.

    Link is ok for me...

If we get to ten buyers then I'll try renegotiate the price, but I don't want this thing to go on forever so I think five is more realistic.

Pricing is a little higher yes but it is a long way from the retail price of $495USD or even the sale price of $425USD.

Yes but US$395... thats a far cry from the AUD$300 that we were going to be able to group buy at. Me thinks the price should drop alot more and they'd get more people interested. And its not like they can't do it at that price.

What you have to realise Claymen is that Z1 was the initial company that started this project thus incurring several thousand dollars worth of tooling fees and initial startup costs. In other words they have to carry these costs onto the consumer... Selling them at $299AU would mean Z1 is loosing money on a product Russell spent countless hours designing and re-designing. :)

The reason I could offer them so cheap initially is because the supplier had everything ready so all they needed to do it run a few through their production line.

If you compare this to the normal $500 - $800 throttle bodies that are available for commodores, falcons, etc... The price is very reasonable.

    yup link works now,cheers

dunno what was wrong before, must have been my pc....

these dont come with the springs and pieces so you need to reuse the existing springs and pieces on the standard throttle bodys,is that correct?....

Yer I understand that Z1 had to outlay for it, its just frustrating when the supplier shouldnt have even started talks about selling them to other people when they had a contract/deal not to sell to others. At $299 it was excellent value, affordable for everyone, at US$395 its a substantial step up especially when it may or may not return the results we expect. That said if you want the highest performance it'd be good and i'd consider this down the track. The higher price puts it into the category of "maybe later" rather than the "why not its a bargain". Its still cheaper but not compared to what we were hoping for.

Still, I may consider it but would like a cheaper price ;)

Working on a better price for these, have the supply costs at $370USD/pair, waiting to hear back on a firm price in $AUD that includes delivery.

    Let you all know ASAP

approx how much power gains are you expecting rob? i know its hard to say but surely the guys in the states or someone has done a dyno run or something on a similar upgrade........i would assume that there would be a power increase regardless of if your running a high HP motor or not?

Not really. Stock TB's are perfectly adequate in most situations and the restrictions are in the head ie cams/valves/etc
