I think I saw that car too but at Doncaster maccas at around 10. I was with my friend in my car and we pulled in and I saw his car. Yellow 2 seater with a bomex, i think, wing and another wing below it. He was with a group of cars and I think he said something about going out to dandenong.

    maybe...

maybe i'm nuts, but who ever still goes to noble park macca's in a jap modified car or some other hotted up car is just asking for trouble... Its like when you're a kid, and you know that the flame is hot and will burn you, but you have to touch it anyway....

I saw the news report on the telly last night and saw the police defecting all those losers and I thought good on em... defect away!!

Instead of turning up at noble park macca's and showing off their cars, or drag racing and just being absolute wankers, maybe they should devote there attention to trying to actually getting a girlfriend, getting laid and just getting off the street and making the street safer for everyone else...

    Cheers

    BigCol That's what she said...

Sandown should be opened up for off-street racing on Fri & Sat nights when there are no other functions on. I don't kow how this would occur logistically with the venue, but surely giving these guys a place to go legally would cure some of the problem, and that the government would assist by doing whatever is necessary to make it happen.

they've gone as far as to suggest axing the easter nats after it's lease run's out, because dandenong greater council doesnt want to look like its 'supporting' hoons,

me personally though i think the government are a bunch fo dickheads and taking the word hoon way out of context, now the word hoon is being associated with motorsport, idiots have no clue and just wanna look like thier doing something about the problem, so we suffer as a result of a few bad apples.. blah

yeah mafi, i know, every last person with a 300zx is persecuted as a hoon, we're all just little angels, none of us do burnouts, drive in excess of the speed limits, drag from traffic lights, illegally mod our cars, it's all the fault of them "other guys" the bastards, oops, reality check is required methinks

Who says they go to show off?
I usually go there to see who is there.. Sometimes I just decide to go and grab something to eat and and find that there are some mates around doing the same thing!

I think the bloody government really need to re-write the definition of "hoon" because basically anyone with a modified car is classed as a "hoon" even if we don't go around doing any burnouts, dragging etc.

because you're driving down the highway

Doesn't mean you're joining in the antics...! Surely its a bit much to expect people to avoid that road when driving down to that end of town...... A lot of people with Skylines/Z's etc have probably never seen any forums and wouldn't have a clue that there is such a thing as illegal drag racing... not _everyone_ that buys a 'sports car' wants to drive it quickly....

    we drive modified jap cars....

and unfortuneatly we will always be targets thanks to the countless "hoons" who have similar cars to us and concregate in mass and go drag racing....

I understand that you should be able to drive through there without hassles from the police, but common sense should tell you that that area is currently policed quite heavily. In my mind, I would drive an extra 10 minutes and give that area a wide berth to avoid hassles. I know that not everyone that is young and drives a modified jap car is a hoon, but statistics say otherwise. And its those statistics we have to live with.

    Cheers

actually... with hoon driving contributing to only 41 serious accidents

in a year (apparently) ... given the number of cars on the road, number of accidents due to other causes etc... it doesn't actually, statistically, seem to be a major problem..... (ie, what is your chance of being in a serious accident with a 'hoon driver' vs your chance of being in an accident with a 40 year old woman putting her make up on in the rear vision mirror)

    I would argue...

that 41 serious accidents is still a considerable amount.... and thats only the hooning that results in an accident..... there is always a heap of illegal stuff going on the roads like dragging in industrial area's, or dragging in newly developed estates where the streets are still empty..... there is a reason why car insurance is the high hest for young drivers, and young drivers who want to drive powerful cars.

we can go round and round in circles talking about this, but my point is, police will always target young people in nice flashy cars..... so it makes sense to avoid area's where there is a high concentration of police doing just that.... If you dont want to do that, thats fine, but dont complain when you are targeted by the police and they defect you for something stupid like having a pod filter or noisy bovs.

    Cheers

skyline owners are even worse off than us. here's a great link i came across while browsing NS.

    http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,21087667-2862,00.html

lo and behold, picture of a skyline = jap car = hoon = anyone who drives one. the media is half to blame for a lot of things. their reporting methods simply leads to all sorts of misguided associations between hoons and japanese performance cars  it probably wouldn't make much news if the kid was driving say a bog stock commo. it's somehow less dangerous
