Hi Guys, Took the zed for a cruise today and by the time I got back I had an awfull whine, from the gearbox I think. I have checked the oil level and that is perfect. The whine seems to be there all the time, it does not matter if its in gear or not. It sounds like a very dry bearing to me. Any thoughts on what it could be??

    Oh dear

Simmo noting it is there all the time regardless of gear selection, are you sure it is not from the engine?

A blocked trans filter can cause a high pitched whine, but would come with some shifting issues i would think.

Time for a service and inspection, do not delay you could be lucky ,,, or not. :(

I supose I cant rule that out. Its just the sound it made makes me think it could be a bearing in the gearbox. It seems to all but have gone once it cooled down. I will do some more investigating.

Check the transmission pan for dents, very common and can easily block the filter inlet causing pump whine.

Thanks for the replies. I will get it checked. It still seems to shift ok, no difference that I could detect. I will do some more investigation and let you know what the outcome is.
