I think I read that this guy is one of the worst sportsmen to ever grace the track.

In the '98 British Grand Prix he ignored a stop and go penalty as he was only 5 laps from the end.

In the '02 Austrian Grand Prix his team member slowed down to allow him to pass and win, this resulted in Ferrari getting a $1 million penalty.

In the '06 Monaco Grand Prix he stopped his car at a corner, blocking other competitors from getting qualifying times better than his. He was stripped of his pole position and has to start at the back.

He's also known for colliding with competitors when they looked liked passing him. He's been found guilty of this a number of times. I'm amazed he won any championships with the way he competes.

He might be a good driver but he's also the sort of guy who cuts you off on the real road and I hate people like that.

    So bloody true...

He even took out damian hill so he would not win the championship one year at silverstone... How would you feel... Its a joke Ferrari its only on top because the head of F1 gives them money all the time... Would love to see a break away series like the indy cars have done..

Umm....they only get money because they finish on top or near the top. Its all funded from the TV revenue and I believe the teams split approx 48% of the TV revenue each year dependent on your finishing position in the constructors.

and yes, michael has done some stupid things, but come on out of all his time in F1, everything he's done for the sport I think you can give the guy a break:

    1. Attempts to take out Damon in Adelaid 94....works, but questionable tactic.
    2. Attempts to out Villeneuve at Jezez in 97...doesn't work, pays the price by being disqualified from the championship.
    3. the Stop/Go Penalty was just a stubborn choice on his behalf. It happens.
    4. Austria was Ferrari and Ruben's just as much as michael!
    5. Monaco I still feel is inconclusive! Maybe thats just the tifosi wannabe in me talking.

At least he doesn't bitch everytime something doesn't go his way....ala one faggoty alonso!

F1 is going to be a lesser sport without the great man there, my own satisfaction is he ended when HE wanted to and didn't try and stay along possibly after his time.

Ive got the onboard of Schumacher during qualifying this year at Monaco - I dont think its intentional at all - if it was - he truely is a superstar because he did so well to cover something so intentional up.

Mate at the end of the day the guy is a fool... You just dont go out and force someone off the road just because if they finished they would win the championship... So what if he is good etc He is not the best and never will be... Ferrari has more money then any other team why because they keep getting funds... So if there was a break away it will be Ferrari vs Ferrari no other team... Todays day and age of F1 racing they are just in the car to look good and steer it around the track thats all.. The rest is done in the pits they get told what button to press and at what time now.. He does bitch just like any other F1 driver does... In there own ways...

Go back and you will find that Ferrari was not even in F1 to start off with... They could not make it at all... They were just not good enough...

At the end of the day each to there own... I rather watch the 2 litre racing where its close and you can have like 4 other team mates on the track you race for yourself does not matter if your team mate is in 1st and your in 2nd you keep going and try and get into 1st... Good racing, so is the DTM... and i have not really watched the F1 this year not a big fan of it rather watch other motorsport...

If you haven't really watched F1 this year how can you make such strong comments? Yes a few years back F1 was getting boring because it was the same ole thing meeting after meeting, but in the last two seasons IMO it has picked up substantially. You can't deny the man being great - he was a winner before he went to Ferrari - even when he had two less cylinders than just about everyone else.

His records and achievements speak for themselves.

My Sentiments exactly! Last two years have been great, and whilst my most hated of all drivers has won, its been some of the most exciting racing ever. I mean, show me someone that wasn't on the edge of their seat during the imola battle of 2005.....absolutely fantastic!

And show me other sportsmen that don't react with pure emotion sometimes, doesn't mean they are not greats (i.e. Tyson, Zidane, Warne etc)...and what about prost and senna, were they always such gentlemen on the track....NO! but it makes for great racing and great sportsman play with heart and emotion and that exactly what schumacher did!

Well what is the point of this thread then? Like i said each to there own... Just becuase i have not really sat down to watch the F1 this year does not mean i cannot make a comment... At the end of the day you like who you like.. I dont like him and just becuase i can make such statements does not mean that because i have not watch any this year dont mean crap..

F1 is going down hill just like AFL End of story...

Rather go watch V8 supercars at lest then its a damm good race...

The point of the thread was to see how Shell are making some clever and funny advertisements with Michael Schumacher. It was all supposed to be a little bit of fun. It wasn't supposed to be a stab at the man or how "crap" F1 has become!

You're the one calling him a fool yet he has earned millions of dollars in his racing career, has beaten and set many records and has been world champ what, seven times?

I never said you couldn't comment - I wouldn't deny anyone that right but to make such strong comments when you admit you don't really watch the sport - thats like me commenting on your health even though I'm not a Doctor nor have even seen you! Get my point?

For reference, Schumacher is not my favourite driver, I'm a Kimi Raikkonen fan but you can't help but admire Michael Schumacher.
