Hi have a massive water loss which looks like coming from behind the engine. Had the intake manifold off and still can’t see where it’s coming from. Looks like the water is hitting the top of the gearbox…..it started off minor leak and then something let go and it’s pouring out. Could it be coming from somewhere that’s not obvious to see… thanks for any advice.
Seems like the heater core feed and return line area... Either the in and to the heater core it self, or from the pipes that come off the two main feeds.
Finally found the leak… looks like a welsh plug in the centre of the block… used camera with green water to find it. Hopefully the centre piece with the injectors comes out…
It's not a minor job. To remove the lower inlet manifold. You have to remove upper inlet manifold and it's bits plus You have to disconnect the radiator coolant pipes from the engine. Remove both metal pipes, to access timing cover bolts. remove timing covers. remove top idle pulley. <- as it pins the lower inlet manifold in place. If you need to slacken the timing belt or change it if you need to . The hydraulic tensioner on the side. (you may need a torch to see it) has a small hole for a bolt to be screwed in to push the piston in. (assuming all were missing it) Oddly for me when doing the timing belt with all the timing marks in place, I only had enough slack on the non tensioned idle pulley side rather than the tensioner side; despite it being fully depressed.
