Slot car certainly looks a lot better than it's usual form of matte black, the new graphics really make it stand out now.

Got to be happy with your results Ron and Andy. For cars that came straight off the street only donning a set of race tyres you guys have everything to be happy with, well done :)

A single GT28RS with a .64 back housing is what my two liter FJ20 used to have, well over 300whp with that. Which is why, as mentioned before, I don't understand why two of these are used on a three liter if a reasonable power spread is required. Fashion over function perhaps.

A good power spread is achieved if you get the engine built with the right specs and supporting upgrades.

if you want a decent spooling efficient 600hp motor these are the turbos .
but not many people get the combo right or have the money to do it right

eg of 600 at the wheels
no vct and has 20psi at 3800rpm...300rwkw by 4000rpm ...........just add vct!
    good enough power spread?

Not bad, I agree with what you say but can't see why the GT25 would not be better given Garrett rate them at over 300hp each. That's assuming everything else is optimum, particularly the dump and exhaust.

the main difference between the gt28r (gt2560) and gt28rs (gt2860)is the exhaust wheel exducer by over 5mm. (41.7 vs 47)

you wont find much difference in spool between them on a built engine
but the gt2560 will be generating too much heat and back pressure because the little 41.7mm wheel will be at its limit.

gt28rs is the most balanced turbo in wheel specs and the best for all round power for the vg30dett.(spool vs top end)

    Isn't that 16 psi @ 3800 rpm... and 20psi just after 4000rpm

What was the main bottom end and head mods on that motor?

16? look at the dotted line for boost ..thats the hp curve

big motor.. porting, 1mm os valves, cams ,built bottom end etc

Ahh yes sorry my bad... I take this engine would have the 28RS with the 3" inlet like you will be running or standard intake?

had same turbos but 2.5" intakes

That dyno sheet shows max 456kw (611hp) at 7000+rpm with 270kw (362hp) at 4000rpm, which is about the powerband used on the track with a standard gearbox. So for sprints and stuff that is pretty damm good and in that situation I would have to agree that the GT28RS makes sense.

Problem seems to be that a lot of people fit GT28RS's to fairly ordinary engines in which case they would be much better off performance wise with smaller turbos.
