I'd Just like to apologise to people who came out last night to watch a horrible display of driving from myself. The new tyres I got were ridiculously different to my previous ones and as a result I went from reasonable to consistently sh!thouse...

I had to carry an extra 30 odd km/hr into each corner to even lose traction at all, which had the unfortunate consequence of making me run off the corners quite a bit. To add to that the new rears responded significantly better to heat than the fronts so the rears remained very grippy and the fronts lost their grip resulting in understeer and at times the rears would grip up and push the front end out of the way mid slide resulting in quite a few spins...

Over all I was really frustrated and disappointed with last night and am now worried about my performance in the next battle in 2 weeks. Ill need to talk to you guys on Monday to see if I can sort out some tyre options for the battle.

Once again I would like to apologise to everyone who came to watch, had quick hello's with a couple, and Im sorry if I was a bit hot-headed but I was just so disappointed in myself. Hopefully I can get some tyres sourced for the battle and try and restore the name of the Z there.

Anyway, despite my best efforts, one of the photographers managed to make me look like I was doing OK, here are his photos. I think anyone there would agree that this was not the theme of my driving last night...

No worries mate, practise makes perfect... You have to start somewhere.

Can I make a few suggestions though.... you NEED....
    • A good suspension setup (hard coilovers, tension rods and some camber arms)
    • 2way diff... Get rid of the viscous or weld it up if you have to.
    • MORE POWER... a lot more! It didn't seem like you had much at all. You need it to power out of those slides. More boost, intercooler, exhaust and tune!
I'm more than happy to assist. :)

Oh and don't apologies mate... At least you've got the balls to get out there and give it a go.

Thanks for the positive support guys...

Well, your already helping me out with camber arms, suspension is next as soon as I earn enough money to pay for it!

As for power, I know... the engine is pretty much factory, clutch, coolers and radiator being the only things upgraded!

I am going to get there, its just a matter of time to be able to afford everything =(

Im certainly hoping so! Im going to be hitting people up at the cruise on Monday. Surely someone has some stockies with some rubbish rubber on them! that'll be much more like my original setup, lol which might help bring a return to form.

The photos turned out well, but as I said, he must have just taken the photos at exactly the right moments, cause there wasn't a whole bunch of moments.

You can see in some of those photos that I am nearly at the point of lifting the front inner wheel! After thinking about it a bit, the tyres are actually probably quite good, however the rest of the car isn't up to their standard yet which ment that the whole car was out of balance.

Essentially, having better tyres ment much higher entry speed, which ment much more demand on the standard suspension (hence MUCH more body roll than I have had previously). Furthermore it ment that more power was required to keep the rears spinning (which the engine in stock form couldn't provide) which lead to the rears regaining grip suddenly mid slide when the momentum from the entry had run out.

As for upgrades to make the rest of the package up to the standard of the tyres... as I said above I am working on it, but there is no way I am going to stop drifting while I build the Z up. Hence for the moment I think I just need to resign myself to using some lower grip rears and continue to build on my technique.

Once again guys thanks for the kind words, and Ill talk to you on Monday Tom!

You'll just have to prioritise a little.... Maybe we can get you in for a manual boost controller and tune.... bump it up to the 280 - 300 mark with 12psi

Oh and here is our R32 PZP's sponsoring.... After 60 odd dyno runs and 11hrs tuning over two days it managed 260rwhp @ 14psi... Not bad out of a 2L.

Note: PZP Stickers didn't make it in time as I was too busy tuning.... Had a few on the back but that was it.
