Hi All. I bought a Nistune in the last GB, and need it tuned. Toshi seems to have a good rep - and I like the idea of street tune (not just dyno numbers) Thread Link :br: I've been in contact with Toshi, and he's not against the idea of coming to Melbourne for a tune up fest... depending on numbers etc of course. As always I guess numbers define the dollars. Once we have a list of who, we can figure out a cost then see who's still interested. So... Is there any interest from other Vic members for a Melbourne Toshi Tune Tour? 1) SBE (Z32 NA) 2) ...??
I would be interested but i missed out on the group buy for the boards and licence. So if i can get them in time i would be interested.
I am in but i need a nistune rom as i missed out on the GB. any chance of a separate price for those who dont have the chip installed.? thanks Stan
Not sure I understand what you're after Stan. Without a programmable CPU - I don't think Toshi can do anything..... If you're wanting to purchase a Nistune chip, you could PM the previous Nistune GB arranger to see if they can arrange something. Cheers, Simon.
U dont need nistune. He will reprogram your stock ECU with the Nictune software and put it in. Works the same and saves $$$
The STOCK ECU cannot be re-programmed in-situ. You need to get it socketted, which is the hardest part of getting 'nistune'. Nistune itself is just a circuit board that fits in place of the stock Chip. This interfaces with the software and allows the tune to be 'burned' to the reprogrammable nistune chip.
Sorry but im a bit confused...would i still need to get a nistune board and licence to get my zed tuned?
Must be socketted to be tuned. Period. Must be socketted AND have a nistune daughterboard to get tuned with NIStune program (toshi would use this, unsure what other services he offers).
you can tune without nistune daugtherboard and with nistune software if you have a romulator (still need a socetted ECU though)
Cheapest way is this one. http://www.nistune.com/equipment-hardware-emulation.php This way do not need nistune board. This is cheapest way but some shops can not retune. Because they are do not have emulator. NA ecu tune is only 10% more than stock ecu. Is this OK?
Of course you need to socket it lol I understand that Toshi can retune your stock ecu with Nistune software and then put the new tune into your car. Not needing to have to buy all the nistune gear.
Lol more confused now...im not smart with these kind of things so apologies...brian has chipped my ecu and goten rid of my rev limiter so does that mean its been socketed? Also would i be able to get my zed tuned by Toshi without having to get nistune or the licence? Sorry about the questions guys. Thanks. Abraham
dude the stock chip is hard wired into the board hence it cant be re tuned. so what they do is cut the bastard out, remove all the pins/solder where it lives and put a socket in it as per below Then once the socket is on the the tuner can make you are new tune, burn it onto a chip and slide it into the above socket. Alternatively, if you want to retune and play around with the ecu alot in real time you can plug a nistune in the socket, once the nistune is in there you dont need to screw around with chips and burning things as you can wipe and amend the nistunes memory with a conzult cable. basically if you have the socket in your ecu you are sweet if not, get a socket, get your stock tune on an eprom and pay someone to install
OK what is the real benifit of the nistune compared to getting a burnt chip. As far as I know I am about 300 k's from anyone that can do this for me. I will be needing a tune that I can put in, ie plug the ECU back in as my z won't be mobile without a new tune. Or I would have to trailer it. I am in country SA. anyone got any thoughts what I should do. My ECU is stock TT.
'Performance' Tuning is done on a case by case basis. If you want horsepower out of a box, then either buy a powership off wayne besanko, or look at a 'mines' 'Jun' 'Greddy' or similar unit. This does not necessarily mean that they will work. Power may increase, full consumption will, rev limiters removed etc etc. This is why you need to tune yourself, or with the help of a professional (the goal of this thread). Based on your remote location and inability to DIY, consider the following plans of attack: Pre-tuned ECU 1) buy a second hand 'brand name' ECU (greddy, mines etc). 2) Finish. Tune-it-yourself ECU / Nistune 1) buy a second hand socketted ECU. 2)buy nistune and user licence 3)Install daughter board into already-socketted ECU 4) Get toshi to tune (make it a melbourne holiday perhaps?) or take it to a performance shop closer to you 5) Read / research, REPEAT. Read / research, REPEAT. Read / research, REPEAT. Read / research, REPEAT. Read / research, REPEAT. 6) Fine tune the NIStune yourself using a laptop computer and plenty of road testing. 7) Be prepared for F***K ups, potentially killing an engine. 8) REPEAT: Be prepared for F***K ups, potentially killing an engine.
ok... Nistune allows easy real time, hastle free tuning and a few other benefits like running dual air intake with 1 AFM for example. 1. You could pull your ECU, get the socket and an eprom, post it and wait for it to come back while the whole time you are with out a zed. Hope you have another back up car! 2. Buy a ECU from a crashed zed that suits your car and send that away to get socketed. There are a few members that could help you out with a socket/eprom that has a stock tune. Dont ask me who just search or post in technical.
Realtime nistune tune and realtime remap is same. NISTUEN do not need emulator and burn chip. So NISTUNE is easy for tuner. If you want to tune your self , chip tune need emulator around $200 chip $20 chip programmer around $100 install socket $60 and NISTUNE need only board $250 and install board $60 I have emulator and programmer so remap is cheaper than NISTUNE.
hi toshi can u comment from your tuning expertise how much better if any tuning a nisstune is rather than a remap ? can you tune more precisly using nisstune ? i.e every 100rpm etc... thanx
