VIC Christmas BBQ and get together (High verbosity)

    red32 You talkin' to me?

"Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat..." so we all went to Tektraders house. I know it doesn't rhyme, but that's the way things are!

Got home from work this morning at 9:00am, into bed at 9:45 and spent the next two-and-a-half hours watching the alarm-clock. Thinks: "Bugger this", get out of bed and go through the "sh's" and leave sunny St Helena for the wastelands of suburban Vermont. Just as well I didn't wash the car, 'cause it pissed down raining as soon as I left home. Get to soggy "Castille del Tek" with the car encrusted in road grime.

It never ceases to amaze me how little you have to do to entertain a group of Zedders!
Fire up a Barbie (if you can stand the smell of burning plastic), throw in a few salads (did Jen help with these GJ, or were they all your own creation?), fill all the available neighbourhood parking with Zeds and let-it-rip.

Corinne (junior lady Tektrader) is anxious to show me the new seat covers she was given for her birthday, so we go out to the front of the house to look at the Festiva, generously donated by Moi (it was sitting out the front of my place, undriven, unloved, and quietly rusting away), and what do I spy ?... PLAYBOY BUNNY seat covers... No, Corinne, Nooooo! Anyway, the car's looking as though it likes it's new home!

First order of business... FOOD! Yummmm! GJ at the BBQ flinging the tongs at the snags (nothing to do with sensitivities), I jump the queue and throw on a couple of steaks. Knock off the horns, wipe their bums and throw 'em on a plate.... mmmmmmm, rare!
    Eat and replete!

Out to play with the dogs (canine variety, there were no ugly girls present). Mitch and Teddy (the dogs) have this orange ball which they demand you throw around the back yard. This soon gets boring, so I invented my own games, like "find the ball in the rubbish bin", "get the ball from under my foot", and suchlike. Bwaahaahaaahaaaa!

By now the others have eaten, and Graham mentions his home cinema set-up. We were all seated by the time he picked himself up and came into the room. It's surprising how little damage is sustained by victims of a stampede!

Now, Graham has his loungeroom converted into a home cinema with a screen which seemed to be about 5 meters by 3 meters (F'ing huge), but it poses its own problems, like where do you put the TV? There was a 7-foot high cupboard in the corner of the room which I later discovered was the subs... this is a setup which you could use to seriously upset the neighbours!

So we watched a selection of scenes from various DVD's with emphasis on car chases... "The Transporter", which is about a 7-series BMW (God, those inline sixes sound great when they're angry) being driven hard and chased by a phalanx of Peugeot 206's and 407's... lotsa guns and booms and bangs, "Drivell" (sorry, "Driven"), with Burt Reynolds in a wheel-chair as a wanna-be Frank Williams, and Sly Stallone as the ex-racer who still has it, but nobody wants it, Mr. DeNiro in "Ronan" (the only Ronan I could think of was a singer), and a doco on Mario Andretti, whose biggest regret was that his son, Michael, was a better driver than he could ever be! Unfortunately for Max (MaxsZX) Graham couldn't find either "The Fast & The Furious", or "2-fast, 2-Furious"... thanks the Lord for small mercies!

So, with ears ringing (it's easy to understand why race drivers use ear-plugs) we then adjourned to the garage to view.... PROJECT ZED...

This car was red! This car will be red! This car is in four-thousand pieces and spread over half the country-side. OMG! Fortunately, the carport where the rebuild is taking place is enclosed in heavy-duty clear plastic, which stops all the bits blowing away. But then, you get people like RZM who inadvertently tip all the nuts and bolts, which Graham had carefully stored in the (disassembled) glovebox, all over the floor and totally ruined GJ's storage system. On this note many Zedders left for sunnier climes, before the wrath of The Tektrader descended on us all!

Graham, a fantastic day, and thank you!

Just love your unique blend of commentary Dougie...

A big thanx to Graham for organizing the BBQ get together...

The home theatre set up is unlike any I have seen before and it looked great and of course sounds bloody GREAT too...I think my ears are still ringing from the fridge sized subbie ...Just one thing tho, learn how to use the remote properly on that will ya!

I guess the center piece of Graham's interest at the moment would have to be the Project Zed, in his project garage... I can only say that you have heaps of bloody patience Graham, any mere mortal would have given up many moons ago and it is certainly a labour of love.

It was a great opportunity to see a completely stripped Zed in the flesh. I for one will certainly be following your progress right to the end and onto the track too, good luck with it mate...:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Here's a few pictures of the project zed in the project garage that I mentioned earlier...:D

No commentary here as you all know who you are.
