VG30 Coil packs, are they the same for NA and TT?

Hi Guys, i have a 1994 Nissan Cedric, which has not much in common with the 300ZX except its RWD and has a VG30DE engine. The intake plenum runs over the right bank of the engine, as opposed to both sides like a 300ZX.
Anyway, I booked it in with my mechanic sort out some bad fuel economy issues (300km/65L, babying it all the way), and he came back to me and said they found 2 coil packs on the left bank are cracked.

To get to the other side requires the plenum to be removed apparently, so I'm up for big bikkies regardless, but he is suggesting i replace all 6 coil packs, and he started talking numbers like $100-150 each! (unconfirmed)

    So i am hoping that
    a) 300ZX coilpacks are alot cheaper
    b) they are interchangeable

Does anyone know? If the coilpacks are the same for NA and TT then it is likely that they are the same for my car too... Is there somewher i can go for cheap (new) coilpacks other than Nissan?

And yes, i saw that Beaver was recently selling a set of working coilpacks for $60, and damn i wish i had seen that before they sold!

Coil packs for the VG30DE and VG30DETT are the same
(i.e. 300zx NA and 300zx TT have same coil packs).

    GREAT!!

Now, i just need to find a cheap source of coil packs and i am in business! Any ideas? The mechanic thought they would be around the $100-150 mark (each), but i would prefer to pay UNDER $500 for all 6 (alot under  )

keep in mind that the Z32 coils bolt onto the intake plenum, which runs over the entire width of the engine, whereas the cedric motor has a plenum that only seems to be between the heads. Therefore, bolting on a Z32 coilpack may be a problem for you. Compare a pic of a 300ZX coil and one of your existing coils to see whether it'll be possible to use them on your motor.

Damn, you had to go and burst my bubble, huh? :p :p

I am getting a pic of one of my coils to compare with a 300ZX one. My mech wanted me to replace them with all new coils, but agreed to fit secondhand ones just to try (especially when i told him how much i might be able to get them for!).

Cresta quoted a fair bit more than ZRATED suggested, but there is another set on Ebay (US) with a USD$50 buynow price that i might take up if i cant find one elsewhere...

Grrr... Just checked a pic of a Coil-Pack meant for a Cedric engine, and its completely different to the 300ZX coil-pack. The Cedric one looks similar to a Skyline coilpack... it looks like i am up for 6 x $150 to get all new coil-packs. And this is just so i can improve fuel economy and get rid of a slight shake during acceleration...

Screw that, i'll put up with the fuel economy and i will source my own from Nissan Japan when i am feeling rich

I really just should have put a 300ZX DETT engine in there when i changed the engine recently. Or a toyota V8... More custom work during install, but less hassles after. Owning a rare car is annoying sometimes!

After hearing more bad news, Finally a bit of good news

So i called the mechanic to pull the pin on the manifold pull, only to be told it was already off. He said that we would have to order at least 3 coils because its such a hassle to remove the intake. So i call Nissan to ask how much i was up for. Their response? $230 EACH! and they are in stock at all Nissan dealers in Australia..

Huh? All Nissan dealers? "Oh yeah, they are the same as the Nissan Exa coils"

So after the initial shock i found that CA18 coils are also easy to come by, and there are a few on ebay right now. Reading an Exa forum i learned that RB20 coilpacks might even fit...
