Basically after more than a year of good intentions I have accepted the fact I'm not going to get around to restoring this car. Everything in the original post stands; but I haven't started the car in over a year, so I reckon the battery will be very dead.

Here's the deal; There is no reserve on this car. Post any questions you have and I'll answer them. PM me with your offer and I'll give it to the highest offer by Midnight Friday 20th March, Canberra time. Please don't bother asking me what the current highest offer is, I won't tell you. Just put down what you're willing to pay, no matter how small. I'll give it away for a dollar if that ends up being the highest offer.

If you win be prepared to bring some mates to help us push it out of my driveway which is a 15degree eight metre slope (upwards of course! :()

    More Details.

Okay, from what people have asked me...

-I'll take some pictures this weekend and post 'em

-Originally I had put under price "You tell me", but I got informed under forum guidelines you gotta put a price, so I put $1k there. This is just to make sure I keep legit on this forum. I have spent a lot of time and got a lot from this forum, I have no wish to anger any people here or upset the moderators.

-What would this car need to get it going again? At worst case it might need a plenum pull and head work. Plus what ever you'd need to get it rego-ed in your state. Everything else is good to go go and in good order. As per my previous post, the rear spoiler has the dreaded rot, and the dash has lifted slightly around the front vents. A tiny bit of wear in the driver's seats.

If I had a garage and more time I would be putting it back together myself, but I've not got around to it in years now, so it's time to let go.

Okies people, here's the snaps. I only had chance to quickly spray her down (water restrictions and all) so she's still a bit dusty, but you get the idea. Taken late in the day, so sorry about the harsh light. If anyone wants any detail photos, let me know and I'll post them.

    In response to other questions;
-Registered under my name in SA until Jan 07.
-I still have the rego papers.
-The license plates will come off when I sell it, and it's up to you to get it rego-ed.
-I don't really know much about the compliance done on it when it was imported as it happened well before I bought it. I have a compliance sticker for it that may shed some light.
    -I live in Duffy, ACT

Good luck with the sale. If it were manual, I would snap it up in a heartbeat.

    More replies to questions....

-The car has had it's 100k service. It has got a new timing belt if that's what you're asking!
-The car was running when I last tried it a year ago. I was turning it over every two weeks but got lazy (heartbroken I guess)
-I have had it for almost eight years, and I was driving it until just before the rego ran out. The reason I stopped was it was suddenly driving sluggish; which is very different from how it drives normally...I have the report of it dyno-tuned doing 170 at the rear wheels stock. Anyway I'm not sure what is wrong with it, and I never got to look properly at it. As I said, the worst case might be a leak in the head. Or maybe it's a boost leak, I don't know. Up to you to find out. As I said, it might start if you bought a battery. (Any ideas what might happen to a zed if left to sit for twelve months?)

-I have just remembered, there was a smell of fuel getting into the cabin in the last few months. I had it looked at and apparently there needs to be a fix-up weld near where you pump fuel into it. The mechanic told me it was a difficult place to get to, it wasn't dangerous and I could drive it fine if I didn't mind the smell of fuel. Just so you know.

Yeah I brought it across when work posted me here from SA in 2007 (the zed came on the train). I never got the rego changed over to Canberra as I am still a resident of SA, I'm just deployed to Canberra temporarily, even if it has been over two years now!

Someone asked what's involved in getting it re-regoed, and the answer depends on which state you're in as that's all regulated at the state level. I'd recommend that you ring up your local transport authority and describe the situation and they'll tell you what it'll take. My guess would be an inspection for road-worthiness and then you can get plates and go. (so yeah, in SA, it'd be off to go over the pits in Regency).

cool, any chance of getting more pics, that r more in the light.
also is there much body damage, has the car previously been in a significant accident before.
    interested.

No body damage except the spoiler bubble rot that I showed in the picture. Otherwise it's completely straight.

It's never been in an accident while I've had it. If you get right up close to the passenger front wheel guard at exactly the right angle in the right light, you can see almost invisible marks that a mechanic once told me suggested it has been resprayed at some time in it's life. That may have been after a front end collision, but I certainly don't know.

That being said, in all my time driving it, I never had any problems with the front end (besides the inherent understeer that Zeds are notorious for *ahem*). I once had some problems with wear in the rear struts so I replaced them with Konis - I have this car sprung stiff so be prepared to feel every bump in the road and tighten up rattles every now and then if you keep it that way.

I may have opportunity to take some more photos tonight, or maybe not. We'll see.
