they may not have to as they are putting it where the original power antenna is... which should be a large enough hole for the connector

no im talking yours, where you allready have the cable run throught the car and are going to get a bracket yes?

you need to feed the wire through the hole then through the nut with the bracket inbetween to mount it up

Good thing we have a tech day tomorrow. Will look at it for you Kiz. Mines in and running well. Some interesting things happening around Ipswich tonight. ;)

Me too, although I haven't bothered to take the car outside the garage to see if it really works yet. Tried quickly while home for lunch and got a couple of truckies and some channel that was playing piss-takes of pop songs.... couldn't pick up anything on channel 5 though around 2pm. Will test it thoroughly tomorrow... once I work out how to use it :p

    I know I know: RTFM!

What ever that means. Read the flippin' manual?
Hope you've got plenty of leg room left. I mounted mine in the din pocket. I had room there because my timer is in the clock location.
Where have you mounted rubber ducky?

I can show you how to use it too. ;)
Took me 2 mins to figure it out the basics, but still more to learn.

For now I've shoved it in the A-pillar until I find a home for it or butcher the rear antenna.

I have heeeeaps of leg room, I've got legs akin to K-Zed's
    RTFM= Read the Frelling Manual

I'm bringing my hack saw. :p My stereo radio still works with the cable left in the boot haha. Some butchering of the power antenna is required to mount the rubber ducky. It's ok but not that tidy looking at the same time.

way ahead of you.. I didnt solder mine, so it was easy to just pull the cable back out.. and its through the bracket already so its all good..

    Yessir!

I finally mounted the rubber ducky in place of the old parker extender (apparently these are rare) so there was already a hole in the bumper and a rubber mount of a perfect size for me :)
I ran the coax across the nose panel and up round the washer bottle neck, te through the firewall near the drivers fuse panel. There is about 30cm spare coax by the end of it. I used the power and ground from the clock as mine doesnt work. There's no interference and I get fantastic reception/transmission.
I also had the antenna shoved in the A-pillar for a while and it worked pretty well there too - fine for short range communications like cruises and such.

I highly, highly recommend one - you can understand people on cruises when using these! Those using handhelds are at a great disadvantage now, and they're hard to understand.

Click the thumnails for the full version.

The last photo is just to give an idea of wha it looks like from the driver's seat. Now I know where the front(ish) of my car is too :)

    Looks like a truck. :p

    Good work. :D

I still prefer BlackBaz's location in the centre of the roof strip, right in front of the rear washer.

Yeh I spoke to Greg about putting it there but it takes some drilling and I don't have a hole saw yet so this will do for now.

... kiz ... when the lads "drilled my hole", ( dread the thought ), the actual drilling took all of a few seconds ... i think the "bit" came from z-toy's tool kit ... you may be able to borrow the bit from him ...

.. it did of, course, take somewhat longer to remove pieces to get to the drilling location ..

.. and then, you too, may be able to transmit in TWD ... much better than in stereo .. lol..

Seriously, it is worth it. Just being able to understand everyone else properly on cruises is a big plus.

Listening to VKR is interesting too... hold-ups, tazers, crossbows, it makes the drive to work interesting.

2nd that!!! and the truckies are hilarious. :D

I have drill bits and a lot closer than Al. Old Baz is a coaster, so he's not far from him. ;)

Depends on where you want to put it... PM Sticky if you want to replace the stock rear antenna. You'll need to run the coax up the driver's side of the car - trim/back seat removal required. Not many have the front parker antennas but if you do I can explain in further detail how to put it there. The best place really is the middle behind the targas. Pexzed and Black Baz have theirs there, and probably more members.
